Total shock...

Oh dear, it is said that God never gives you more than you can bear but I can tell you I feel like I am getting close to breaking point.  I have shared with you in recent posts the difficulties, stresses and sadnesses which I am facing on the home front but at least, I always had a job that I loved.

A job that, of course at times has its own stresses and strains but is always rewarding and fulfilling as I saw teachers and students use the history books which I have published to help them in their teaching and learning.

Sadly, this may very well change!  My company has just announced this week a total restructure which involves the closure of several departments, at least 75 redundancies and nearly everyone having to reapply for a job.   Everybody at work is shattered and feels uncertain of the future as there are fewer jobs than there are people.  We are all in limbo as we wait to hear when our interviews are and to hear our individual fates.

So, there has not been a lot of stitching or blogging done lately as I try to process this new situation and hone my interview skills.

I did, however, read a new light romantic comedy (it cheered me up no end) which you might like to try.

It is a lovely story about an unlikely romantic hero finding love.

That is all for me now - off to hone my interview skills!

hugs,

P.S. I would also like to say hello to my new followers and to thank all of you who have sent prayers and good wishes my way already.

I know that when a Company restructures, yes many people have to re-apply for a job. I wish you all the best. If you have to re-interview for a position, take it seriously. Do a resume and dress appropriately. You should be fine. So sorry to hear this happened with your company.
love Annette

I have a very similar situation at work. I've been off for nearly two months now and still haven't heard from them - not a good sign. I wish you better luck than I'm having! :S

Best of luck....when one door closes another opens... Things will fall into place. Be strong! Thanks for the reading suggestion; I will have to check that out. I am getting to the end of my stack for summer reading.

I am sending you good wishes!! I had to leave a job I would have done for nothing because of my DH having to change jobs! Very painful.

Poor you; but as I like to say we live life in black and white stripes. So after a few blacks of stress and negativity ... the white ones should start to appear. Good luck on the interview/job issue! We have been having restructuring/redundancies for the past 2.5 years it seems. Living year in year out. Letter of threat November/just before Christmas with a long wait till April of whether you'd be staying. This is some tough economic times we are going through.

Oh, Kaye--I do hope things work out for you. So many people around the world are going through the same thing right now--even in my own little library there is a big shake-up going on... Will be thinking of you and hoping for the best!

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, Kaye! I'm in a Union and our jobs are all based on seniority. Our dept downsized from 14 transcriptionists to only 4, and luckily I was #3 in seniority. But all the others were trained in new positions. It's no fun learning something new after 20+ years!

Hang on in there!
Restructuring is a pain in the neck. We're going through it at our place, all the shop management have had to reapply for their jobs and our two have both decided not to bother and have taken redundancy leaving us with just four staff!
I'm sure they will keep you on, if not then it's their loss.

Oh Kaye, this such terrible news... I popped in to say hi and to check how everything is going with your Mum... What a shock to hear about your job. It is horrible waiting to hear the final judgement especially when it is out of your control. I do hope that you are one of the lucky ones.... Be strong. It s very true that when one door closes another opens... You just have to be ready to step through when the new one opens. Take care. Lots of hugs and positive thoughts for you and the family :)

PS: hope the op goes ok :)
