I have never been so proud...

to be an Australian.

After the awful events of the Sydney Lindt Cafe Siege, where a madman murdered two innocents: Katrina Dawson and Tori Johnson.  Australians have shown what they are made of - we are strong and we pull together and we do not hate!

When Sydney muslims felt that they may be harassed after the events of the siege, fellow Sydneysiders started a #I'llridewithyou campaign on Twitter, offering to travel with their fellow Australians, no matter their religion or creed as as sign of mateship.

That is what Australia and Australian are all about!

My condolences to the families of Katrina Dawson and Tori Johnson and to all affected by this awful tragedy.

My blessing on you all, stay safe please.

hugs,

Updated: My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the terrible events in Pakistan and Pennsylvania - sometimes one has to wonder if the world has gone mad?

A beautiful post...and well said. It was a horrendous crime, but creed or religion has nothing to do with it and your countrymen putting their hearts into making sure all are safe and well and no one is ignored or singled out...that's how the world should react!

Not even Australian, but very proud of that young woman who started off the twittering, and the hug. So sad today, Australia, Pennsylvania and Pakistan have been added to the list of horrors.

Happy Christmas, Kaye.

I'm so glad that people realised that the crimes of a madman should not condemn all who are Muslim. Stories like the one you've relayed makes me think that there may yet be hope for mankind to unite under the banner of their humanity....regardless of race religion or creed.
My prayers to those who's lives are touched by the horrors inflicted by fanatics throughout the world xx

All of us are thinking about our Australian friends and hoping the best for your country. Often tragedy brings out the best in good people.

I think the World is very impressed by Australia too. Thankfully these events are few and far between though they have long term repercussions.
