Sit back my little ones and listen to the Tale of a Stupid Stitcher.....
It all begins with a Happy Dance. Day 2 of Prairie Schooler's Santa's 12 Days of Christmas is finished "Yay!" I say.
Then I start to think.... "Ooh, I don't have anymore of this fabbie which I really liked stitching Days 1 and 2 on." So, off to my LNS I go, to visit the lovely Wendy of Lazy Daisy fame with Day 2 in hand to buy some more Lugana. But, when I got to pull out Day 2 to show him off to Wendy - not there! Left behind on my stitching chair! "No worries," think I, "I remember exactly what the fabric is."
...and that is where I made my mistake! After examining the cream Lugana varieties, I decided that it was definitely 25 count. "Yes, I am positive that this is it!" I declared to Wendy.
So, off I trotted home happily, with my 25 count Lugana.
Once home I decide to photograph Days 1 and 2 together to show you all. Do you see what is wrong?
Day 1 is smaller than Day 2!
"How can that be? I rather bemusedly thought to myself, "and the fabric colour is not quite the same!"
Hmmmm! What is going on? So I investigate further.
Yep, definitely smaller and a slightly different cream. Day 1 has been stitched on 32 count linen, Day 2 on 28 count Lugana - both obviously different brands as the creams are definitely not the same - and now Days 3 and 4 at least are going to be on 25 count cream Lugana!!!!!!
So, the moral of the Tale of a Stupid Stitcher is this:
Always check your fabric carefully! (and maybe take it with you to your LNS when trying to match it).

Oh, no! You are not stupid, you will just have to stitch a few more Santas... and have some to spare for ornaments that will make perfect gifts :)
Just make sure they aren't placed next to each other on the tree!
Oh dear! But I'm sure it will be fine. You won't have them right next to each other. The difference is hardly noticeable! So pretty too!
The first one could be the feature piece:)
You can make another line around of the day 1.

Heck Kaye. You sound normal to me. I think it's fine but if it bothers you, give #1 as a gift and stitch again. I would do half in one fabric and half in the other, alternating.
Oh dear, looks like another Day 1 to stitch. It's annoying when you do that. You are not alone, I'm sure lots of us have done something similar, I know I have. Hugs...
Okay I will say oh no, what a shame cos I guess I ought to...Now my positive side kicks in, because really my first thought (as I was reading) actually was- how great to have a variety of sizes it makes it so different, more interesting and more individual:)
whooops .. thinks that's a tale we can all relate too ....you will have to put that one at the front and the others at the back and it will make them all seem the same size ..lol love mouse xxxxx
Ooops! If it's any consolation that is exactly the kind of thing I'd do too.
I think if you put a one stitch border all round the smaller one it would probably bring it up to almost the same size

Aww, I'm so sorry about the mix-up! I feel your pain - still trying to figure out how to cram my entire sampler on not enough fabric. We shall prevail!

Oh phooey! Sorry that happened but they look really great anyway! Maybe place your own special 'border' to make the smaller look similar size? Anyway, still lovely.

Hi Ruth. I like the idea of stitching half on one size and half the other. What difference does it make anyway if you are making them into ornaments. I have a question on Santa 2. Aren't the inside empty squares on the birds suppose to be stitched with tannish color. I thought thats what you were going to say was wrong and not finished.

Whoops! I doubt you''ll be the first and you most certainly won't be the last! They both look lovely regardless.
Oh, I don't think your stupid at all...so stop saying that! You stitch beautifully...so what, they are gonna be a little different. I say glory in the difference. No one else will have a set like yours...that makes them special! :)

LOL. I like the idea of stitching them all on different counts of fabric.
Or just adding another row of border to make them the same size.
I think they will look better if they are different sizes it adds interest
o my, this reminds me of a project I did where I ran out of floss! I was not afraid; after all, all floss is created equal and finding the perfect match was going to be so easy! Aaa, lesson learned. :)
I think they'd be charming on all different fabric counts! Just think, you could have a ready-made excuse to buy more fabric. :D
I love reading your writing! You're so entertaining. LOL. I say what the heck, stitch them all on something different! Only 10 more to go and you can do a few more on linen and throw in some 14 ct Aida, too! Hahahaa!
