April 2020 TUSAL Report

Well, here we are again, time for the fourth TUSAL (Totally Useless Stitch-a-long) Report for the year, when we show our ORTS for the month.

This year my ORTs are going to placed in this special ORT jar which was a gift that came as part of my 

A Little Help From our Friends Stitching Circle (an autoship from The Silver Needle).

I have also decided to take each month's pic of the ORT jar with my objets d'amour (the things that I love). 

This month's orts are sitting in front of the ORT jar.  My objet d'amour this month is our very special chess set. The pieces represent the American Civil War and TraderVic and I bought them on our first overseas trip in January, 1986 in Harrods of London.

March 2020 TUSAL Report

Well, here we are again, time for the third TUSAL (Totally Useless Stitch-a-long) Report for the year (sorry it is late -see previous post for my (lame) excuses), when we show our ORTS for the month.

This year my ORTs are going to placed in this special ORT jar which was a gift that came as part of my 

A Little Help From our Friends Stitching Circle (an autoship from The Silver Needle).

I have also decided to take each month's pic of the ORT jar with my objets d'amour (the things that I love). 

This month's orts are sitting in front of the ORT jar.  My objet d'amour this month is our very speccy coffee machine! Now, that I am home all day, every day, it is proving to be a lifesaver!

February 2020 TUSAL Report

Well, here we are again, time for the second TUSAL (Totally Useless Stitch-a-long) Report for the year, when we show our ORTS for the month.

This month's orts are sitting in front of the ORT jar.  My objet d'amour this month is The Tigers Almanac 2019 (the Richmond Tigers were Premiers in 2019 - Aussie Rules Football).  I actually wrote an article for the almanac (I know, shock/horror I actually wrote a footy article and not a history one but if/when you read it you will understand).

My article is called "A time to reflect as tribes come together" and you can read it here.

As I said, TraderVic actually wrote several but the best is the one he wrote about the Grand Final, which he/we did not attend as were actually at a family wedding in Rome - it is a fabuous piece, called "Pax Romana" which you can read here.

January TUSAL....

Well, it is time for the first TUSAL (Totally Useless Stitch-a-long) for the year, when we show our ORTS for the month.

I have also decided to take each month's pic of the ORT jar with my objets d'amour (the things that I love). 

In this month's pic are: back right, a 1950s vase that used to be my mother's as is the green and white stripey vase (which came from Venice). The little green spotted vase was also a gift from A Little Help From Our Friends Stitching Circle and the stitchery at the back is Tall Sheep by Shepherds Bush, which I finished way back in 2015  and apparently I also finished two very small versions of this which I placed into round boxes and I must have given away but to whom, I wonder, as I have absolutely no recollection of this but this post shows them finished.   Okay, I did some more digging and I think that they went to Kim from Wisdom with Needle and Thread (who currently appears to be on a blogging hiatus) and June from Butterfly Wings (I think, who is still blogging). I do so hope that they liked them.  I can see that taking my TUSAL photo with my Objets d'amour is going to be a trip down memory lane - what fun!

Anyway, that is all from me for today, as I need to go "Fa Coffee" (ie make morning coffee for TraderVic and I) to drink whilst we do the Saturday quiz, plant some hydrangea bushes that a friend gave me cuttings of, do some supermarket shopping for dinner (absolutely no idea what we are going to eat tonight), book the movies for tomorrow night (we want to go see The Gentlemen"), I should wander around the corner to the hairdressers and book a hair appointment (I have left it so long as I didn't want anyone waving scissors around my broken and then healing nose), I really need to go to Water Aerobics (again, being very careful of my healing nose) and, of course, I need to cuddle the cat, read some blogs and stitch, stitch, stitch - and that is just Saturday!  Luckily it is a long weekend, so Monday is a Public Holiday (Australia Day) and as I worked on extra day last week, I have Tuesday off as well - so I have another ten day holiday after having had five weeks off and only worked one week - life is good!

Very late TUSAL and some stitching progress

Oh dear, this is a rather late TUSAL post.  Here is my little jar.  I love the way that you can see by the layers what I have been working on.  Last month it was the soft colours of Cinderella, this month it is largely the red of Noah's Ark

I have made great progress on Noah's Ark.  I just need the baby to be born so that I can complete the details which are to be stitched underneath the animals. (Don't worry, that is not a pink stain on the fabric it is just the design on my doona showing through)

I also had another start this week:  January Wordplay by With thy needle and thread.  I am stitching it on the recommended 35ct Abecedarian Linen - I thought that I might have trouble with the smaller stitch count but it is going well so far. I have seen so many people stitching the Wordplays that I just had to join in, too.

And as usual I will finish with a picture of Furio - this is him guarding the house from the builders on the roof where they are working on the house next door (you can see them putting the blue tarp on where they have been working).  I swear - Furio was growling at them! I think he thinks he is a dog not a sweet little kittycat! lol!

TUSAL and Saturday Baking

I have finally remembered to do a TUSAL posting - only a day late!  Here we go, most of thread is from my progress on Cinderella:

Yesterday, I indulged in one of my favourite pastimes (apart from reading, stitching, shopping....) and did some baking:

Late February TUSAL, plus a big thank you..

Well, here is my February, TUSAL jar - I took this photo on my desk at work.  In the top left hand corner is my new Dell laptop - it is a little beauty.

 Below is a close up of my jar, all of the white and purply coloured threads are from Cinderella.

I would like to offer a big thank you to everyone who has been giving me all the great packing advice for our big trip to the U.S in March.  I am running this as a competition - if you comment on this post  and offer me some advice as to what I should pack, you get a chance to win a Mystery Prize.   I would be happy with any and all suggestions, so please join in.  Thank you, thank you, thank you, everyone.

 Now, last week I was in Sydney for work and I stayed at this great serviced apartment, the Meriton on Kent. It was huge for just one person, with a kitchenette, a separate bedroom and bathroom and really centrally located with a gym and a lap pool.  I can recommend it if you ever need to stay in Sydney. Here are some pics which I took on my phone.
