My Fair Lady update.....

Here is my update for you of my outing to the Regent Theatre to see My Fair Lady, directed by Dame Julie Andrews, which I blogged about last post.

Oh, it was glorious!  Such a beautiful performance - the singing was great, the sets were fabulous and the costumes so absolutely gorgeous!

The only, little, disappointment was that Julie Andrews did not make an appearance as we had hoped (probably having her Nana Nap before the evening's performance - lol!).  However, the dress rehearsal raised a lot of money for Brain Cancer research, so that was great.

Of course, I had to buy a bit of memorabilia, as this is the 60th Anniversary season of the musical.

I also made a bit of a day of it in town and did a bit of shopping before the show...

First stop was the gorgeous L'ucello, a vintage haberdashery shop in the city of Melbourne.

I couldn't resist these beauties, some silver and gold lace to put in my bits and bobs drawer for use when I do some finishing of projects; some gorgeous au ver a soie silk (just because I couldn't resist the pinks); I have been doing a bit of beading on the odd project or two lately, so I bought a couple of little jars of pink and red beads; a vintage needle book and a stitched fob, which I put on a gorgeous wooden book mark that a friend's husband made for me.

I also visited one of my very favourite shoe shops, Edward Meller, where I indulged myself by buying two pairs of "dressy" runners. I couldn't make up my mind which pair to buy, so I bought both! Both pairs will be suitable to wear to work with long pants or trousers (my work believes in sensible, comfortable clothing in the office as we are not customer-facing, although, obviously, when I go out to schools to present, I dress quite formally).  What I like about them, also, is that they are pull on and very comfortable to walk in (Plus I love the bling on the black pair!)

Last stop was the big Dymock's book store on Collins Street, which I just love going to for a good old browse.  I managed to pick up the next two books in the Traitor Son Cycle by Miles Cameron (the pseudonym for Christian Cameron, who normally writes historical fiction), which I have been trying to find for several weeks now, so I was very happy to find them.  I also had a very nice lunch of quiche and salad in the cafe there and as the book shop was just down the street from the Regent, it was a short stroll to My Fair Lady.

So, you can see that I had a fabulously indulgent day on Friday, one which I feel that I can easily justify by the fact that I have been so very sick with Bronchitis (I had almost a week off work with it and the second week, when I was still feeling quite unwell, I had to do a lot of travelling around Victoria to present at schools - there was a lot of driving) -  it really took a lot out of me, so it was lovely to be so indulgent!

Thanks for reading,

hugs,

Stash empire building ...

... yes, I am at it again!  I just cannot help myself but sometimes a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do when she sees some lovely crafty things!!!!!

On Saturday, the little Eaglemont Village where I live had its first monthly Saturday market for the year - it is just a small craft market but well worth a visit.

So, I bought these gorgeous chutneys and Quince jam from one stall ...

... and then I went back and bought a jar of Raspberry and plum jam, too (I am a sucker for homemade jams).

From another stall I bought these great quilting fabrics ...

I think that they will be perfect for finishing my Smalls as cushions and pincushions. I especially love the carrot fabbies and the strawberry fabbies and altogether they only cost me $8.00.

Then, today, I had to go into the city for a meeting with the publishing house that I am doing some freelance work for (more work = more stash! lol!), so I went in a little early so that I could visit the gorgeous vintage haberdashery shop,

l'uccello.

... it is full of so much crafty goodness but I managed to sort of restrain myself to just buying this ...

... an antique pincushion design, just right for using up some of my civil war stash ...

... a vintage French seed packet needle keep - you embroider the flower panel - they had so many designs it was so hard to make a choice but I finally did.

... and lastly some gorgeous Spanish floss packs - Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter colourways - I can't wait to use these!  I am going to start with stitching with them on the Vintage French seed packet above.

... and to finish up, here is a cute Furio pic.  This is on Anzac Day, when the family came over for lunch (that is my dear nephew on the left), we were sitting there having lunch and TraderVic left the table to go get something and when we looked up, there was Furio sitting in his place - what a wag!

Well, that is all from me for now,

Fabric, Fabric, Fabric .......

Well, I seem to have managed two Fabric buying expeditions this week!

The first was at Eureka Patchwork in Ballarat, Elizabeth could not have been more helpful. I ended up buying a range of fabbies but for some strange reason, most of them are cats! Now, I wonder why that is?  lol!

Some lovely Xmas FQs:

Cat fabbie - there is a lot more in this range which I may just have to buy at some stage!

This is actually very black and just perfect for finishing off Halloween pieces!

I couldn't resist this pretty Japanese-inspired fabbie.

.... and I bought this one for Autumn and Halloween finishing.

.... and more cats....

The second expedition was with my dear friend, Anna, to L'uccello in the city.  Oh, my goodness! It must be one of Melbourne's best kept secrets!  Apparently it has been there four years and I had never heard of it - if you ever get the chance to go, please take it. She has the most divine fabrics and notions.  Heaven on a stick!

Even the bag she gives you your goodies in is divine!

... and look at the cute paper bags she uses...

... and here are my goodies....

I am going to make some covered measuring tapes, using the lilacy strawberry thief fabric from Liberty (top left corner).

Oh, everything was just too delicious, I also bought some Sajou stranded cotton which I am currently stitching a small project on - lovely to use.

Well, that is me for now, thanks for visiting,
