IHSW Report_February 2021

This weekend was International Hermit and Stitch Weekend (IHSW) which incorporates Friday Night Sew In (FNSI). Both are virtual stitch-ins, which stichers, quilters and other crafty people take part in from all over the world - pretty neat, hey?

You can read about my rather successful (including a Happy Dance) FNSI this month here. And I would have to say that my IHSW was most successful this month with not one more not two more but THREE more Happy Dances).

First up, I teased you all last post with this pic....

Which became this.... The Stitching Bee by LHN

The Stitching Bee, was a kit (except the backing fabric and the button, 'cos I couldn't find the button that came with the kit but once I had FFOed it, there was the button after all but "Too Late", she cried!) which came as part of my A Little help from my friends subscription from The Silver Needle

Then, I was so inspired by how well the finishing turned out on The Stitching Bee, that I FFOed these two sweet designs.

On the right, "A Spot of Spring" by The Drawn Thread, which I finished stitching in May, 2017!  On the left is an unknown design (I do try to always label my designs when I post but sometimes I obviously don't! lol!)  but it is still a sweet finish!

All of the fabrics, finishings and trims have come from my stash - phew! Gotta use it up sometime!

I also found some time to put a few stitches into this design from Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornament Issue 2007. It is Julia Lucas Designs - Deck the Halls.

And some more stitches on the big bear on the first of the two baby quilts I am stitching.

So, that is it, my wrap up for February IHSW.

You can check out what others have done for IHSW by visiting the IHSW FB page.

But before I go, I did want to remind you to check out my 1000th Post Giveaway

which I would love for you to enter.

Stay safe and well, my dear friends.

Thanks for visiting and please don't forget to leave a comment as I do love a good chat,

hugs,

Friday Night with Friends_ January 2021 edition

As you read in my last post, this past Friday was Friday Night with Friends .....

... this is a virtual sew-in hosted by the lovely Cheryll from Gone Stitchin'.

.... and I promised to tell you more about what I chose to stitch on....

This design is "Be my Friend" by The Scarlett House. It is design which I received as part of my The Silver Needle's "A Little Help from Our Friends Stitching Circle".

... and here is my progress pic...

I added the heart, the left hand chair and bird and started the urn and the house.  I would have been even further advanced if I had not had to frog the left hand chair twice!!!!!  Aaagghh!

If you would like to see what else I stitched on this past weekend, please click on my New Start Sundays blog badge below:

Please check out the other FNwFers by following this link.

What did you stitch on this weekend?

Just a little....

Stash Empire Building, that is....

I started Stitch from Stash for the first time this year but I have fallen off the wagon so many times that it is not funny! lol!

It all started innocently enough with a few threads bought whilst travelling around Victoria for work...

From a quilt shop in Warrnambool.....

... and then a craft shop in Kyabram...

Then I came home to a parcel from The Silver Needle - my latest project in the "A Little Help from our Friends Stitching Circle".  All of the projects in the Stitching Circle are custom-designed, just for the Circle - lovely!

Love the hearts on the tissue paper.

... and this is what was inside: a sweet design called "Alphabet Stitches" by Blackberry Lane Designs - all kitted up for us. A lens cleaner with the same design printed on it, a very sweet wire basket for displaying Smalls and a few jelly beans (but I ate them before I even took the pic - lol!).

Then Wendy, from my LNS, Lazy Daisy - which has now gone online only - posted this gorgeous fabbie on FB.  I couldn't resist and bought a metre of each one.

... I know exactly what I am going to stitch on it - this gorgeous Emma Congdon (Stitchrovia) design from the May edition of Cross Stitch Crazy.  I saw this design stitched by someone in the Stitchmaynia Group on FB just the other day and then the fabbie turned up on FB the next day and then, luckily for me, my local Newsagent actually had a copy of the right mag! Serendipity or what?

... as for the gorgeous floral fabric, well, again serendipitously, I had also ordered this sweet Jardin Prive Cat Lovers Quaker design - it will go perfectly on this, with just a few tweaks of floss colour, I think.

Also sneaking into my order from Lazy Daisy are these two gorgeous designs from Mirabilia: Royal Games I and II.  These are just stunning and so unusual - I love them!

... and the last two items in my latest Stash Empire building are these two sets of designs from Plum Street Samplers: Noah's Christmas Ark I and II. Cute idea, aren't they?  A bit of a twist on the 12 Days of Christmas, I think.

So, lots to keep me busy on New Start Sundays although at the moment I am obsessed with stitching on The Ice Skaters, so I haven't been Friday Frolicking or New Start Sundaying and last week I was on the road again so there was no 'Merica Monday either.

There will be an update post on The Ice Skaters in a day or two, so please do come back to see my progress - it is coming along beautifully.

hugs,

P.S. Please don't forget to check on my Winners post to see if you are a Girl's Nest Giveaway #6 winner. Just click on the image below.  I have only heard from a few of the winners and as I have been so busy with work trips, I am behind on emailing people, so you may be one of the winners - worth checking out, anyway.

Gifted Gorgeousness 2018.... January Update

So excited to be posting my first Gifted Gorgeousness Post for 2018!

I do have a few exciting GGs to show you this month....

First up is this gorgeous Italian Christmas Cross Stitch magazine, which my darling Giuseppe (one of TraderVic's Sicilian cousins, who is my Sicilian soul mate) gave me as a parting gift.  I will treasure his thoughtfulness always.

Here is a sample of some of the gorgeous designs in it - I can't wait to get started on ALL  of them - lol!

Next up is a very special Gifted Gorgeousness!  On our recent overseas trip (and I promise to post more pics soon), we had a three day stopover in Dubai on our way home to Oz.  So, I was lucky enough to catch up with my long-time online bloggy, stitchy friend, Sarah, from Sarah in Stitches.

We had such fun catching up and Sarah was kind enough to gift me with a tin of sewing goodies - mainly with an Americana theme (as that is one of my favourite themes for stitching).

Love, love, love this sweet little cushion...

Haven't I been spoilt?  Thank you so much, dear Sarah. It was such an absolute pleasure to meet you in person and I hope that you come visit me in Australia one day!

My last entry for GG this month is a bit of shoehorn but we all love a good shoehorn, don't we?

This is a nice package that was waiting for me when I got home.  Last year I signed up for The Silver Needle's "A Little Help From Our Friends Stitching Cirlcle!".  Every three or four months, a lovely little package of goodies arrives with a design especially made for the club plus the fixings to make it plus some other special gifties. This package was especially delightful!

So, that is me for GG - this post has taken me over a week to write as I have been dealing with jetlag, going back to work (hmmm! gotta pay for my trips and stash somehow!) and some surprise overseas visitors from Taiwian coming for a lightning visit (my DDIL's mother arrived Wednesday night and her brother tonight (Saturday) but my DDIL leaves for Brunei (to join DS1 who has taken a teaching job there) on Tuesday and the guests don't leave until Wednesday!  So, as usual it is all go! go! go! here in Eaglemont.

But, just a reminder,

If you want to learn more about GG, just click on the pic below....
