A visit to the William Ricketts Sanctuary ...

Today we took our unexpected overseas guests to the wonderful William Ricketts Sanctuary in the Dandenong Ranges.

"In the 1930s, William Rickets bought a four-acre bush block on Mount Dandenong and called it Potter's Sanctuary. Word spread about the extraordinary sculptures that began to adorn the property. In time, the Victorian Government heard about his work and in the early 1960s the land and adjoining blocks were bought for the people. William Ricketts lived on at the Sanctuary into his nineties and continued to create his sculptures until his death in 1993."

As the weather man was predicting a 39 degree day, we thought that it would be a bit cooler up in the ranges - and it was and we did so enjoy wandering around this unique National Park.

We also, of course had to stop and look at the view on the way - this is at Kalorama, looking at across to the Sylvan Dam.

Stunning view, isn't it?

Well, that is all from me for today - hope to get my Smalls SAL post up tomorrow for you to see what I stitched whilst sitting all those hours on a plane!

hugs,
