Fully Finished Gallery SAL_February 2021 Update

It is that time of the month again - time to show off my Fully Finished Objects...

Hosted by Rachel the Ten Hour Stitcher

This is a great SAL, designed to motivate us all to do something with that box of Finished pieces instead of just storing them under the bed or in my case, in a drawer! The idea is to link up on Rachel's blog on or after the 10th of each month (10 Hour Stitcher - 10th of the month).....

So, how did I go this month - pretty good, I think with SIX FFOs!

#1:  "Santa's Sleigh Ride" by JBW Designs, which I finished stitching in February, 2018.  I finished it a a long pillow using this cute oversized check or plaid fabric in matching colours to the stitching. I found the fabbie in my stash.

#2: "Well behaved Women" by Lizzie Kate, which I finished stitching less than a month ago. I finished this as a large cushion, again using fabric from my stash.

#3: "Winter Saltbox" by Pinker n Punkin Quilting.  I used my favourite white pom pom trim and another favourite, a blue and white snowflake fabric for the back.

#4 and #5: Horse and Candelabra from "A Christmas in Scandinavia" by Gazette 94. I used some more of my white pompom trim and this very nice red and white spot fabric.

#6: Is "Poinsettia" by Pinochka, which I finished only a few days ago.  I am so thrilled with this finish.  I'm not a very confident finisher and I feel that I often struggle with ideas and this one was a ROUND design - aggghh!!!!!  Nevertheless, I took my courage in both hands and give it a good old go!  And this is the result....  I am so proud of it!

I used the centre of a spool of ribbon as the frame and laced it to one side. Then I glued some of this very cute mistletoe felt, which I found as a scrap in my fabric stash.

Then I found this matching mistletoe ribbon in my ribbon and trim stash and then sewed red pompom trim on both front and back.

Then I fastened the ribbon to the spool with a staple!  lol!

So chuffed with how it all turned out!

If you want to see what the other Fully Finishers got up to in February- please check them out HERE.

But before I go, I did want to remind you to check out my 1000th Post Giveaway

which I would love you to enter.

Thanks for visiting and please don't forget to leave a comment as I do love a good chat,

Smalls SAL 2018_February Update

Hmmm!  Also just getting my February Smalls SAL post in by the skin of my teeth this month as well!

Although I do have a good excuse for being behind - our building project has started!  Woo Hoo!  Maybe by Christmas but certainly by the end of next Jan, we should have the first of the two houses (which is rather confusedly called House 2) we are building on our existing block (we will eventually be pulling our house down to make way for a new house) finished and ready to move into whilst House 1 (our dream home) is being built!!!! Exciting times and lots to do, cleaning out twenty years of seven people's junk/detritus/belongings/memories!

Anyway, onto the stitching....  I have four Smalls finishes this month.

1. First up is "Warm Hands, Warm Heart", which is the January Ornament for the JCS Christmas Ornie FB SAL  - The Little Stitcher, p. 52 from JCS Christmas Ornie Magazine.

I do love this spotty fabric for Christmas ornies.

2. Next is Love Never Fails which I stitched for The Secret Stitching Sweetheart Blog Hop and also for the Needlecraft Haven's monthly challenge - although I was a fail on this as I forgot to send my pic to Christine!    Too much going on here - Aaagghh!

Love Never Fails
The Primitive Hare Freebie
Over-dyed lilac linen
Changes: beaded the word "Love" and changed the key to white
Pink floss is CC Cerise

3.
I picked up Santa's Sleigh Ride by JBW Designs as a Friday Frolics piece a couple of weeks ago. This was also for my Rotation Relay for the Winter Olympics for WIPocalypse SAL (on FB). I 'm very happy to say this is now a finish, too.

4. My fourth and final Happy Dance for this month's Small's SAL is this very cute design by Paola Gattiblu, "Proverbi 4".   This was the Friday Frolic piece that I chose for last Friday's FF.

This is the companion piece to Proverbi 3 (you can see the two pieces together if you scroll down).

The saying "Gatto ci cova" means "The cat is hatching" ie up to something no good! You can read more about it here.

So, there you go, that is my Smalls Update for Feb,

Weekend Round up ....

[Sorry, this is now a rather belated weekend round up as it is now Wednesday, but time seemed to run out on Monday, when I started writing this post and who knows what happened to Tuesday? - lol!  Anyway, here goes......]

Thursday evening:

I started my weekend stitching early this weekend (on Thursday evening) as I knew that TraderVic and I were going to a House concert on Friday night, so this week for Friday Frolics ... a languishing Chrissie Ornament came out to play....

Before:

After:

JBW Designs
Santa's Sleigh Ride
28 ct white linen
Mixture of DMC and WDW floss

This piece was started (and never touched again until now) on 6 January last year as one of my pieces for Debbie's Ultimate Crazy January/February Challenge (DUCJFC), you can read about it all on this post.

However, other WIPs were calling my name, so after just one evening of stitching, Santa and his sleigh have been put aside for other projects.

Friday evening:

The artist at the House concert was Scott Cook, an amazing Canadian folk singer and balladeer who gave us an amazing evening of great music.

If you ever get the chance to hear him play, I can highly recommend it.

Saturday:
I thought that I had better get on with stitching my Christmas Ornie SAL piece for Feb's theme of "Snow".

Last month the lovely Loretta, stitched a great freebie from Plum Pudding Needleart (unfortunately, the link to the freebie seems to have been suspended) for the January Music theme, luckily for me it also fitted in nicely with the Snow theme for February. You can see Loretta's great finish here.

So, this is where I am up to today (after stitching on it both Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday) - nearly done!

... and, of course, this is a DUCJFC stitching piece as well.

Saturday night, TraderVic and I went to dinner in Prahran and then a movie with DD.  We saw "Brooklyn", which we all loved.  Such a beautiful film and Saoirse Ronan was excellent in the main role.

Sunday:
Well, Sunday was Valentine's Day, of course. So TradeVic and I went on a double date with our best friends, Kim and Gino, to a lovely Italian restaurant, La Camera,  next to the Yarra River at Southgate.  We sat out on the terrace on a perfect Melbourne's summer evening and then had a lovely walk along the riverside afterwards and then found one of Melbourne's many, many cafes for a coffee.

Tuesday:
Well, not much happened on Monday, so let's skip to Tuesday (work during the day) but then lots of fun in the evening, as I went out on a girl's night with my dear friends, Heather and Franca for dinner at The European and then to see the marvellous Dawn French in Thirty Million Minutes.

The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious, this is lamb ravioli, with sides of heirloom carrots with dukkah and labne and a witlof, pear and walnut salad - yummo!

Dessert was Peach Eton Mess......

Waiting for Dawn!

So, I would have to say, this past weekend was a corker!

Wishing you all a great rest of the week.

hugs,

SDUCJC 2015

This year I am taking part in the  SDUCJC (SoCal Debbie Ultimate Crazy January Challenge) which is a very special challenge to me. It is being undertaken by many of us this year to honour the memory of a very special cross stitcher and friend to many of us, SoCal Debbie. She was a prolific stitcher, blogger and commenter but sadly she passed away very suddenly last year.  I still miss her oh so encouraging comments on my projects and I miss SALing with her, as well.
One of her favourite challenges was the CJC:
CJC = Crazy January Challenge, one new start for the first 15 days of January
UCJC = Ultimate Crazy January Challenge, one new start for all 31 days of January
DUCJC = Debbie's Ultimate Crazy January Challenge, stitch 31 projects one per day for January

Linda Stitchin' with my Furbabies and I (mainly Linda) are organising this all via a FB group. Stitchers are free to undertake whatever level of commitment they like to the challenge, with some stitchers cleverly shoehorning their starts into other challenges they are doing for 2015 or in many cases, using a WIP, which has been languishing for a while as one of their projects.

In 2012, Linda and Debbie did  the SDUCJC (Super Duper Ultimate Crazy January Challenge) or 59/60 starts throughout January and February, so some of us are doing that this year, with dear Linda.

Now, as I have the wedding coming up in, oh my goodness, FOUR DAYS!, I actually started a little early so that I could allow for the days that I couldn't stitch (how is that for organisation?) and yesterday as I had to wait at home all day for a couple of tradesmen (who were supposed to come between 7am and 10am but turned up at 1.30pm and 2.30pm!), I actually managed a finish and a new start!

So, I am going to post all of my starts so far - I actually have 11, with two stitching finishes and I am starting Day 12 today!  But don't worry, from about Thursday onwards I will be lucky to do one stitch for quite a few days and then in Feb I have a conference on the Gold Coast for three days hence the need to get myself ahead.

Here we go:

#1: Noel Blanc by A Mon Ami Pierre
This design was gifted to me by the lovely Jo of Serendipitous Stitching, it will make a reappearance later in the month as part of my Gifted Gorgeousness SAL which Jo is running for 2015.

#2: ABC Christmas by Lizzie Kate
This was sitting all kitted in my stash - yay! I am so pleased I actually managed to complete a whole word plus two baubles.

#3: Quaker Village by Rosewood Manor
I love the colours of this start - I was sorry to have to put it down.

#4: "K" from a Stitcher's Alphabet by Brooks Books (freebie)
This is my first finish for the year - yay!  The "K" is for my upcoming Swapaway.

#5: "J" from a Stitcher's Alphabet by Brooks Books (freebie)
The J" is for my upcoming Swapaway but unfortunately still has a bit of stitching to go - it is "J" for Japanese Stitching.

#6: "Counting" in brown by A Primitive Hare
I just love Isabella's designs.

This is also for my upcoming Swapaway

#7: "Counting" in red by A Primitive Hare

I just love Isabella's designs, so I am doing it twice!

This is also for my upcoming Swapaway.

#8: Halloween Globe by Gazette 94

This is a freebie from the wonderful Gazette 94. She has a series of Snowglobes, so I can see some more in my future.

This will turn up again in February as part of my Halloween Ornament SAL 2015, which is also hosted by the wonderful Jo.
I actually started this because I thought that Skeletons was the theme for January but luckily my dear friend, Noni, over in Perth put me on the right track (see #11).
Still, this is 3/4 done, so at least I am ahead on that SAL now!

#9: Santa's Sleigh Ride by JBW
Something I found when I was tidying up, lucky!
Isn't Santa cute?

#10: Holiday Spirit, freebie (you can find the pattern here - thanks, Chiara for reminding me where I found it and thanks to Robin for being so generous with her designing).
Also found when I was tidying up. I stitched this last year, too but when I found the pattern again, I thought why not?  This is my second Happy Dance for the year - double yay!

#11: Spring Witch by The Snowflower Diaries (freebie)

Aha! Here she is: January's theme for the Halloween Ornie SAL - witches!
Isn't she cute?  Last year I stitched Autumn witch, so after Summer, only two to go.

So, that is me up to date.  Off to do some wedding stuff and then to work on today's stitch  - Well-behaved Women by Lizzie Kate.

hugs,
