This is my last post about our weekend away in Olinda (which seems so very long ago now - sigh!) but I just had to share with you this amazing dollhouse which we saw in the village of Sassafras. It belonged to the much married (for her times) Dame Zara Bate nee Dickens but whose second husband Harold Holt was seventeenth Prime Minister of Australia. Harold Holt was the Prime Minister who tragically drowned on the Mornington Peninsular, his body was never found, allowing all sorts of outrageous conspiracy theories to form. For example, he was really a spy and he had been collected by a submarine and taken off to live a life of luxury in some other country.
Anyway, Dame Zara obviously had a privileged childhood as you can see from this magnificent dollhouse. Enjoy!
Isn't the detail amazing?
hugs,
