Christmas Day ....

.... and a Merry Christmas was had by all!

Giving the pudding a drink of brandy!

My dear Dad's 97th Christmas ... rather bittersweet as he is getting very frail.

Making Peking Duck for entree...

Some earnest political discussion going on.

My niece loved her Xmas cushion (not sure how it went from being an ornie to a cushion - it just grew like Topsy!)

Let's see, what else... Baby Joe, looking askance at his Christmas ornie made by me (photo kindly sent to me by his mama from Casino, NSW)

A few Christmas gifts, a kitten calendar from my Dear younger sister....

... and my summer reading all sorted, courtesy of my dear younger sister (again) and DS2.

... and, of course, some stitching to finish... this is for my FB group (just joined - wonderful group), Stitchmaynia, 12 Days of Christmas challenge (we stitch on something related to each of the 12 Days from December 25th to January 5th).

The 12 Days of Christmas
The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery
28 ct Cashel linen, Serenity
Floss: some suggested colours, some my own choice.

I hope that everyone has had a Merry Christmas and is now looking forward to a Happy and Healthy 2017.

Merry Christmas ....

Wishing all of my very dear bloggy/crafty/cross stitchy friends the very Merriest of Christmases and a safe and Happy New Year.

I would also like to thank you all for your friendship, support, advice, encouragement and kindnesses to me over the past year.  My little piece of blog land means so much to me and it gives me great pleasure to know that this blog has, at times, been entertaining or helpful to you.

All the best for 2017.

Christmas is coming, 2016 .... Part Eight

Well, here we are and it is Christmas Eve, here in Eaglemont, Victoria, Australia.

Are you ready for the big day tomorrow?  I think that I just about am, although I do need to make one final trip to the supermarket - oh no!

Last night, we had a lovely Christmas celebration at my best friend, Kim's home.  I made a Christmas trifle for dessert.

Both families came together to celebrate our long friendship and the kids young adults relived childhood holidays by playing some very noisy games of 500.  It was lovely to see them reconnecting at this special time of year.

While this was happening, a few of us wandered down to a neighbour's house to see their Christmas display - it was amazing, to say the least.

... and then this morning I rose early to finish my heart quilt for my dear younger sister as her Christmas present.  It obviously has the Milo tick of approval now (Furio approved it in this post).

I used this gorgeous repeating sheep fabric on the back.

Christmas is coming, 2016 .... Part Seven

In recent years, as my Christmas buying list has got simpler as the children have become adults, I have made a real effort to buy my gifts locally.

I do this for two reasons:  One, I try to avoid the crowds and the commercialism of the shopping malls; and Two, I want to support my local shopping centres so that the traders can stay in business.

Obviously, the Ivanhoe traders agree with me as this year, the pavements were covered in the following very cute symbols....

Oh, I also completed the Final Finish on my Xmas Tea cushion, so it has been added to the Christmas grotto display.

Thank you to all of those who gave me advice on this post as to which fabric to choose to complement the design. As you can see, I chose the second fabric.  As always, your advice and kind comments were greatly appreciated.

Christmas is coming .... Part Six

Last night ....

.... I was trying to do some Christmas stitching - sewing the binding on a heart quilt for my dear younger sister when Furio decided to "help".

As I shifted the quilt around as I was sewing the binding, Furio merely shifted position.....

So, I suppose the heart quilt has the Furio tick of approval!

I just hope that my dear sister likes it, too.
