Small SAL update_October + Winner of the Travelling Pattern: Life's a Stitch
Each month I participate in the Smalls SAL run by Stitching Lotus. On the last Wednesday of each month we post about the Small/s we have stitched for that month. (A Small being whatever you like but just not a big project).
So, what Smalls did I stitch this month?
I have been busy with Christmas ornies:
Now, that reminds me, I need to announce who this wonderful TP is going to next:

I have been busy with Christmas ornies:
It is called "Home for Christmas" by Gentle Pursuit Designs and is on p. 22 of the mag.
I used 28 ct "Flax" Linen and mixed the threads up alittle lot as I didn't have most of the suggested threads.

Then, just the other night I finished this little beauty. This is "Three Crowns" again from JCS Christmas Ornament Magazine 2014.
"Three Crowns" by Cherished Stitches (p. 86 of mag)
Stitched on 28 ct Flax Linen
Using mainly substituted threads (as I didn't have the ones called for) .
Then there is the missing one (see this post here) which has still not turned up and it was nearly finished. It was the Pickle Barrel Designs Ornie from p. 21 of the mag if anyone wants to see a pic of it.
One more Christmas ornie, this one is "Quaker Birds" by LHN, stitched on 28 ct overdyed cocoa linen - I love it.
Then, of course, I finished the TP: "Life's a Stitch" by Lizzie Kate.
I stitched this on 28 ct Flax Linen using threads from my thread collection. Again, I am very pleased with how this has turned out.
Now, that reminds me, I need to announce who this wonderful TP is going to next:
It is
jhm from Indiana,
her blog is Needlework Samplings
jhm, could you please email me at kayedep@gmail.com your snail mail details and "Life's a Stitch" will be on its way.
Just wanted to finish with another pic of more gorgeous roses from my garden. I took this photo at night and I think that it looks a bit like a still life.
Well, that is all for this post, off to write a Halloween Blog Hop post next and then it is off to work (thank goodness I like to get up early - sometimes keeping up an active blog is like having a second job - lol!)
Have a great day, everyone,

FNSI update
Hello fellow FNSIers,
What did you get up to for FNSI this month?
I stitched on this Christmas Ornie from the JCS Christmas Ornament 2014 magazine.
It is called "Home for Christmas" by Gentle Pursuit Designs and is on p. 22 of the mag.
I used 28 ct "Flax" Linen and mixed the threads up alittle lot as I didn't have most of the suggested threads. I am very pleased with how it is turning out, should get this one finished today, I think.
So, off to the Linky party to see how everyone else spent their Friday evening.

The tale of the missing stitchery.....
I am hoping that one of you is an intuitive Sherlock Holmes type,
who can help me track down my missing Christmas Ornament - the stitching is nearly finished on it but it has gone AWOL.
These are the facts:
Yesterday I was merrily finishing the last of the stitching on a Christmas Ornament from the latest JCS Christmas Ornie Mag:
When I had to stop as I had to go out to an appointment. So, I put it down where I was sitting and stitching and went out, quite happily.
BUT, when I returned a few hours later, my nearly finished Christmas Ornie was GONE!
I have searched high and low.
... but it seems to have vanished into thin air!
Now, I cannot show you a picture of the missing Ornie:

Now, I cannot show you a picture of the missing Ornie:
- Because it is for an exchange
- Because I hadn't got around to taking any pics yet!
... however, I have some theories, which I would love your input on:
Theory No. 1 - The Culpable Cats or Furio the criminal mastermind.
Did Furio, my sweet little kitty cat
and his nefarious offsider, Milo, steal my Christmas Ornie? Why, you ask? Because he is jealous of the time I spend stitching rather than adoring him.
They look guilty of something in this photo, I think.
Theory No 2 - Aliens took it!
Or was it all part of an Alien plot to find out more about how people in Australia spend their leisure time?
Hmm! I wonder what they will think of it?
Theory No 3 - I have early onset Alzheimers...
... so I put it down somewhere safe and cannot remember where.
Theory No 4 - Either the gremlins or the fairies took my Christmas Ornie ...
... the former because they love to make mischief, the latter because my Ornie was so beautiful that they wanted it for themselves ......
So, what do you think? I would love to know which of my theories you think is the most plausible or if you have another one, please let me know.
I am a great believer in misplaced items turning up eventually, so hopefully that will be the case and I can get it finished before Christmas!
Thanks for reading my nonsense,

Grow Your Blog Party Winners Announced, a Happy Dance and So Much to Catch up on Part 2....
Well, today is the day to announce my Grow Your Blog Party Winners which was organised by the wonderful Vicki - you can click on the pic below to get to the Party.
I elected to have two winners - one from Australia and one from Overseas.
So, drum roll please..... The Overseas Winner is
Congratulations, Kim, please email me with your snail mail address and these goodies will be winging your way soon.
Second drum roll..... The Aussie winnner is......
Now wait! We actually have a third drum roll! As Cath from Bits'n'Bobs was the first person to guess that I am the middle sister (most people chose my baby sister!) she will also win a small prize - some more fabbie from my stash and maybe a couple more surprise items.
Cath, I am not sure I have your snail mail address so please email me with it.
Now, here is my Happy Dance - This is my Day 6 Crazy January Challenge - my first finish for that Challenge and my second Happy Dance for the year - Merry Cat'smas! This is a freebie design from Terri Carl but I am not exactly sure where I got it from. This was a train stitching piece - so I stitched a bit on it each morning on the way to work. This was finished between Jolimont and Flinders Street Stations yesterday morning.
Now, to tell you some more of my adventures. Last Sunday, I went to the city with DS1's gorgeous girlfriend who comes from Taiwan. She had been intrigued by my stories of the 19th century shopping arcades of Melbourne and my tales of marvellous lunches at the Hopetoun Tea Rooms in the Block Arcade and of Gog and Magog in the Royal Arcade.
So here are some of the marvels we saw - we had such a great day together, it was just lovely.
I elected to have two winners - one from Australia and one from Overseas.
So, drum roll please..... The Overseas Winner is
KimM from Wisdomwithneedleandthread
Your gifts are:
a cute little Babushka scissor fob, a nail file which looks like a ruler (useful on two counts), some fabbie from my stash and an Aussie home kit from Juniper Designs. I hope that you enjoy these gifts.
Congratulations, Kim, please email me with your snail mail address and these goodies will be winging your way soon.
Second drum roll..... The Aussie winnner is......
Noni from Fireflies and Cats in the Garden
Noni, I think I have your snail mail address but maybe email me with it again, just in case?
You have won:
A book called "The Hand-Stitched Home" which I hope you will enjoy browsing through, also a nail file which looks like a ruler and a Babushka scissor fob as well as some fabbie from my stash.
Now wait! We actually have a third drum roll! As Cath from Bits'n'Bobs was the first person to guess that I am the middle sister (most people chose my baby sister!) she will also win a small prize - some more fabbie from my stash and maybe a couple more surprise items.

Sorry, the photos are all a bit jumbled but that was a bit like our day as we wandered at will through the arcades and laneways of Melbourne.
Well, off to do a little bit of stitching,
hugs,
