Smalls SAL_April (and March) 2020

The Smalls SAL is hosted by Mary's Thread
On the last Friday of each month we post about the Small designs that we have stitched in that month.  Unfortunately, I never got around to posting last month, so this post covers both March and April.

So, Let's See, what Smalls have I finished since the end of February?

Well, to continue my obsession with our two cats - I stitched them as Christmas ornies:

Furio:

Milo:

Here are two pieces together:

The design is from one of the JCS Christmas Ornie mags but for the life of me I can't remember which one.  Once, I do, I will update for you.

You can see what all the other Smalls SALers stitched by going to this post on Mary's Threads.

So far behind ....

.... with my blogging posts, that is!  Not sure where the time has gone as I certainly meant to write at least three or four post this week for the various SALs and challenges, etc - FNSI, IHSW and TUSAL to name but three.

Strange, isn't it?  You would think that with this enforced social isolation - yes, I am bringing up the elephant in the room - that I would have more time to blog, but somehow no!  I have been haunting the supermarket for toilet paper and the local craft shops for supplies, keeping up with family and friends via Facetime, Messenger, What's App, Instagram and Facebook to name just a few. Keeping up with all the latest news on Covid-19 and all the funny jokes about it (you have to laugh, don't you, to try to keep sane?).  We have picked up a new online project at work, so I have been busy with that and cooking and gardening and, of course, reading, stitching, stitching, stitching and finding new programs to watch on the Streaming services and cuddling Furio, of course (for him it is a silver lining as I am home all day, all week now).

But, seriously, these are such extraordinary times and I am praying and thinking of all of you out there in blogland and all my wonderful stitchy friends, even if I haven't been visiting your blogs this week.  Stay safe and well, my dears and try to take joy in the simple beauties of this world.

So, that is all from me on this subject for now - watch out for my stitching updates coming later today and tomorrow,

Stay safe and well everyone,

hugs,

April 2018 IHSW and FNSI ....

Okay, a slightly late IHSW and FNSI post but c'est la vie!

FNSI first:

I started my Friday Frolics and FNSI last Friday wrestling Furio for control of my stitching - lol!  He really is my stitching cat!

I am pleased to say that I won the tussle (yay! I could beat a cat a 100 times smaller than me - lol!) and managed a finish before my Friday morning coffee group.

Sorry, I did iron it but it still looks a little crumpled!  I made a few changes to the original  - see below - I hope that you like them.

Then it was onto my Temperature SAL.....

Before:

Progress.....

Pretty happy, quite a bit achieved on this SAL piece.  So, a successful FNSI!

Now, for  IHSW:

For the rest of IHSW, I focused on my Temperature SAL and here is how I went:

Saturday:

Vikings are here!

.... at Melbourne Museum, that is....

I had to work last evening (it was the AGM) but the bonus was that afterwards we all got a private viewing of the new Vikings Exhibition and oh, it was so fabulous.  Here is a taste of what I saw....

Stunning jewellery .... (I took many more pics but these are some of my favourites)

Lots of screens with wonderful Nordic images...

These are rivets from a Viking ship, hung to outline the shape of the ship.

There were also lots of more interactive displays....

You can lift this Viking sword to test its weight and balance (but you actually can't swing it around, luckily!).

.... and I will just leave you with Furio looking forlornly as I left for the AGM, saying "What are you going to work for now?  When you should be reading this book with me!"

Well, that is all from me.  Please come back tomorrow to join in the fun for the
Easter Treasure Hunt Blog Hop 2018.

hugs,

P.S.Don't forget my giveaway, click on the pic below if you would like to enter. Closes March 31st - only two days left to enter.

March TUSAL Report plus other sundries...

You know, it's funny - when I had my blog hiatus in the second half of last year, it was because I felt so overwhelmed by the passing of my dear Dad and getting ready for our big trip overseas and changes at work and so on and I felt so paralysed by the thought of blogging and it seemed such a chore - but now I am back into it in such a big way and I have so much to share that I feel like posting several times a day some days!

I must say that most of my joy in blogging is all of you, my wonderful bloggy, stitchy, crafty, internet friends.  You give me so much support, friendship, inspiration and joy.  Thank you all!

Anyway, I had better move onto my TUSAL report...

This is actually three month's worth - January and February in the vase and March in front.. Looking good, I think.

If you are wondering what on earth I am talking about, please click on the pic below.

Let's see, now what were the other sundries?

Well, in no particular order, I had a delicious lunch today out with my dear friend, Kim....

DS1 and his wife are currently on a road trip around the Malaysian part of Borneo (you might remember that they now live in Borneo, where DS1 teaches).

... and yesterday was St Pat's Day, so there were Irish bagpipers playing at the Eaglemont Village, where I live.

It's late afternoon here in the land of Oz, Furio is stretched out at my feet enjoying the late afternoon sunshine, feeling as relaxed as I am feeling right now.  I am planning to finish this post and then do a bit of stitching alternating with reading.  Bliss!

I hope that you are enjoying your Sunday.

One last thing, don't forget my Girl's Nest Giveaway #5, click on the pic below to sign up for the item of your choice - closes March 31.

hugs,
