It was a lovely Mothers' Day indeed...

... as DD came over specially to cook me ricotta and blueberry pancakes and bring me a lovely bunch of flowers from her and her brothers (who both live interstate).

We then played Scrabble and she beat me soundly (I have taught her well).  Then she shouted TraderVic and I to movie tickets to see "Captain America: Civil War" as it happened to be our 34th Wedding anniversary, as well!

(Enjoyed the movie but probably not as much as the first two.)

So, in all another great day in Living in Eaglemont!

I hope that all of the other mothers out there were spoilt rotten, too!

What a weekend.... Part Two

Well, after the excitement of our Anniversary evening, we managed to stretch it out to the next day when we went up to the Yarra Valley for the day with our good friends, Tony and Marie (of Sunday morning walk fame) - it is their anniversary exactly a week after ours and the same number of years, so the last several years we usually have some sort of joint celebration and lots of fun together.

So, what can I tell you about our day?  Well, the Yarra Valley wine region is heaven on a stick, especially for foodies and wine lovers.

We visited a dairy, two wineries (we had a delicious lunch at one and bought wine and freshly picked apples at the other), a gerbera farm (with llamas - not sure about the connection between gerberas and llamas!),  the White Rabbit brewery and the famous Beechworth Bakery.

Then on Sunday, Mother's Day, DD took me out to lunch and a movie "While we're young" and DS2 sent me some gorgeous flowers.

Do you want to see some pics?  Silly question, of course you do and I am going to show them to you anyway - lol!  Here they are in random order.....

So, in all a marvellous weekend, but very tiring!  In fact, when I got home on Sunday after the movie, I went to bed for a nap at 4.30 and then got up, had some soup and was back in bed by 8.30!

Too much gallivanting as my dear Mum would have said.

Anyway, it was just great being out and about with family and friends all weekend. However, this weekend is going to be much quieter. I plan to do lots of stitching, reading, visit my dear Dad and run a few, gentle errands.  How about all of your plans?

It is FNSI tonight, so the stitching will start tonight - you can sign up here.

Have fun everyone, my next post will be my GG post, so please come back to see what I have been doing.

Happy Mother's Day and Weekend round up....

Unfortunately our weekend away in Ballarat for the Heritage Weekend had to be cancelled as my dear uncle had the flu. Luckily, he is on the mend but not up to having guests and running around to lots of events.  So, TraderVic and I had a free weekend all of a sudden - what bliss!

So, yesterday, I baked and sewed (natch!)

I made a Koffee Kake (called that because I put my initial on it).

And I stitched a bit on my Saturday SAL - Fall Welcome -

Before:

 After:

I have also been stitching on "Her Sampler" which is a freebie from BlackBird Designs.  You can get it here.

So, I was stitching along beautifully and then I realised that I had mucked up 26 of the pink four-sided eyelet stitches on the left.  Can you see?  The bottom halves are bigger than the top half (a bit like me, really!)
So, it went from this ....

to this.....

... to this.......  I am going backwards! Aaaagghhh!

Oh well, we live and learn, don't we!

I also managed to clean out my pantry on Saturday - the oldest item I found was a tin of Nesquik - use by 2007!
Ooh, just while I think of it - here are the lovely flowers which TraderVic gave me for our anniversary - 32 years of wedded bliss.  Aren't they lovely?

... and this is the delicious Aperol Spritz with which we toasted our happiness.

Now, as you all know - today is Mother's Day.  Well, my two youngest (DD and DS2), made me a delicious brunch and gave me some lovely tulips.

... and then DS1 and his girlfriend popped in and gave me some new salt and pepper grinders (my request as our old set had broken) and some more beautiful flowers!

This is my first Mother's Day without my Mum, so I have placed her picture near the beautiful vase of flowers.  Love you, Mum.  And love, you my three darling children.

Well, after my lovely brunch, TraderVic decided we needed to go out and clean out the gutters!  So, it was time to get down and dirty!  I did think it was a bit rich on Mother's Day!

So, tonight I am cooking Corned Beef with mashed potato, carrots, peas and Creamy onion sauce! Delish!

Then, it will either watching The Voice and/or Masterchef or maybe both whilst I stitch on my 12 Days of Santa Day 4 SAL.  How lucky am I!

Here is Furio showing great interest in watching The Voice with me.... lol!

... and here is my progress on Snata's 12 Days of Christmas (PS), Day 4.

Before:

After my stitching session (which turned out to be shorter than I had hoped for as we had a black out)....

Anyway, I want to wish a Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful Mums out there.

Happy Mother's Day and lots of other stuff!

Happy Mother's Day to all those lovely mothers out there.  I hope that you are having a great day.

For my Mum, I made this Coconut Chiffon Cake:

Needless to say, it hasn't lasted long!

I have been doing lots of stitching, too, although I have been so busy that I have barely had time to get onto my laptop let alone do much blogging!  (Often, when I am so busy I choose stitching time over blogging time - there is only so much a girl can do!)

Cut Through Castle  Update #1 (SAL with Linda and Debbie and lots of others)
Not much progress, so far I know.
I am stitching it on this beautiful blueish/purple 32 ct fabric from  Quilt Kitty.

April's Halloween Ornament SAL:

May's Halloween Ornament SAL progress:

Update: I have been asked what the variegated thread is on the moon.  Now, the moon is meant to be all yellow but I thought that it would look pretty speccy with something about different, so I am using WDW's Fiesta - what do you all think?

Thread Pickerz Silkz Heart SAL - Heartz 1 and 2:

Santa's 12 Days of Christmas SAL: (with Linda and Debbie)

.... and here is my TUSAL update - train ORTs on the left and home ORTs on the right:

Well, that is all for me for now - look out for my upcoming posts:  A review of Yiota's cross stitch kits and another book review plus maybe a few more things as the week's progress.
