Fully Finished Gallery SAL_February 2021 Update

 It is that time of the month again - time to show off my Fully Finished Objects...

This is a great SAL, designed to motivate us all to do something with that box of Finished pieces instead of just storing them under the bed or in my case, in a drawer! The idea is to link up on Rachel's blog on or after the 10th of each month (10 Hour Stitcher - 10th of the month)..... 

So, how did I go this month - pretty good, I think with SIX FFOs!

#1:  "Santa's Sleigh Ride" by JBW Designs, which I finished stitching in February, 2018.  I finished it a a long pillow using this cute oversized check or plaid fabric in matching colours to the stitching. I found the fabbie in my stash.

#2: "Well behaved Women" by Lizzie Kate, which I finished stitching less than a month ago. I finished this as a large cushion, again using fabric from my stash.

#3: "Winter Saltbox" by Pinker n Punkin Quilting.  I used my favourite white pom pom trim and another favourite, a blue and white snowflake fabric for the back.

#4 and #5: Horse and Candelabra from "A Christmas in Scandinavia" by Gazette 94. I used some more of my white pompom trim and this very nice red and white spot fabric.

#6: Is "Poinsettia" by Pinochka, which I finished only a few days ago.  I am so thrilled with this finish.  I'm not a very confident finisher and I feel that I often struggle with ideas and this one was a ROUND design - aggghh!!!!!  Nevertheless, I took my courage in both hands and give it a good old go!  And this is the result....  I am so proud of it!

I used the centre of a spool of ribbon as the frame and laced it to one side. Then I glued some of this very cute mistletoe felt, which I found as a scrap in my fabric stash.

Then I found this matching mistletoe ribbon in my ribbon and trim stash and then sewed red pompom trim on both front and back.

Then I fastened the ribbon to the spool with a staple!  lol!

So chuffed with how it all turned out!

FNSI, a Happy Dance and a Friday Frolics Giveaway....

 Oh dear, it has also been nine months (just like my recent TUSAL report) since I did a FNSI post - last April, in fact.  But, anyway, here I am again and I had a very productive FNSI as I managed to put stitches into not one by two projects and I have a Happy Dance for one of them - way to go moi!

Both of these projects I began on 15th January, 2015!!!!!! Yep, six years ago but as they popped up this week as my Friday Frolics projects they finally got some love!

First up is a Lizzie Kate design, "Well behaved Women" - as you can see I used my own choice of colours  and although some of the lettering is a bit pale, with the right fabric when I finish it as a cushion, I think it will pop!

As this was a Friday Frolics project, I am going to have my first Giveaway of 2021 of this cute design (no little button nor threads, though).

The second project which I managed to get two lines of stitching done last evening - but only because TraderVic and I bingewatched the third season of Cobra Kai last night - lol! ...

... is another design which I received as part of my The Silver Needle's "A Little Help from Our Friends Stitching Circle" called "F is for Friend" by Heartstring Samplery Design.

As I said, just a couple of rows of stitching but a stitch is a stitch is a stitch!

A quick update on my Dad.....

.... and on my roses and some Stash Empire Building...

But first, I must thank everyone who has sent me messages of support for Dad. (You can read about what happened in this post here.) He is doing well and the big news is, after over a week of nursing home visits, endless phone calls to case workers, social workers, nursing home business managers and the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) by my two sisters, myself and TraderVic, we have found him a lovely nursing home.

It is called The Alexander (just like my eldest son) and is a small, family-run nursing home.  Some of the nursing homes we looked at were very large and we just think that Dad would get lost and overlooked.  Honestly, his leg could be on fire and he would just ask the nurse for a glass of water and try to put it out himself, without one word of complaint.  So, we need somewhere smaller for him, so that he is noticed, so to speak.  

He will be moving to his new home on Monday, so I think that may be an emotional day for all of us.

Now, in my absence, my roses have been running riot.  They are just stunning this year, so far.  Here are my latest pics.

Oh, and as usual, I had fun with my Impresso App on my phone and here is the same pic as above as an Impressionist painting.

Now, to the Stash Empire Building.  I had a smidgeon of free time yesterday, so what did I do with it.  Visited one of my favourite shops in the world, of course.  My LNS, Lazy Daisy.  The lovely Wendy and Sue, always make me feel welcome, are up for a chat and naturally, are happy to feed my Stash Empire Building addiction - lol!

So, here is what I came home with....

Some cute Lizzie Kate Christmas Designs...

Love the sheep and the Leaping Deer on this booklet.

Can't make up my mind whether to stitch Santa in his nightgown or "Is it too late to be good?" first, these are two seriously cute designs!

I also, picked up my Whooligan fabric which had been ordered for me.  But do you notice something strange?  In the photo of the design, the fabric is blue but what came is definitely gray but it does have sparkles, so I am happy with that!

I also chose these four Drawn Thread designs, (I am sucker for seasonal designs, especially in a series).  Although, I may brighten some of the floss colours up a bit, I will do a floss toss first though, and then decide.

 ... and lastly, I chose this trio of smalls from Plum Street Samplers....

I am quite drawn to crows at the moment - I seem to see them wherever I go - not sure if that is significant or not.  This is the rhyme regarding the number of Crows that you see.  At different times lately, I have seen one or two or three at a time but never more than that.

One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
Seven for a secret,
Never to be told.
Eight for a wish,
Nine for a kiss,

So much to tell you

Oh, one more thing.  Today is Remembrance Day.

This year 11 November marks the 98th anniversary of the Armistice which ended the First World War (1914–18). Each year on this day Australians observe one minute’s silence at 11 am, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts.

FNSI, FF, IHSW and the Weekend Round Up ....

Well, again I had to start my Friday Frolics and FNSI stitching on Thursday evening as this week TraderVic and I were going to HTC to see the first play of the season, which if you scroll down you can read about shortly.

Thursday:
So, I randomly picked up this piece, which again I had started last year for DUCJFC.

... and then I spent the rest of the little time I had for stitching on the weekend on it for IHSW and got this far:

Friday:

Pre-theatre dinner beforehand was at our usual Greek restaurant, Byzantine.  I had the seafood platter and boy, it must have been good as you can see there was not one skerrick left!

                                                

Then it was down the road to view the first play of the HTC season:

It was rip roaringly funny!

Saturday:

Started off with breakfast with our very good friends, Linda and Terry at a local cafe, Mr Pebbles.

                                                      

I had poached eggs with haloumi, pumpkin bread and rocket pesto, it was delicious and quite filling but that was okay as I was planning to skip lunch.

                                                    

... and the reason I skipped lunch was because I went with my very, very dear friend, Kim to see a matinee of Ghost the Musical.

                                    

                                         

Now, Kim and I had lots of fun, as you can see above (and there were a couple of yummy cocktails each involved, too, I can tell you!) but I would have to say that the musical itself was fairly ordinary. The story is great but the songs were just blah! really, except for the iconic Unchained Melody, of course - which they managed to butcher and don't get me started on how they botched the also iconic pottery wheel scene!  I think that Kim and I did a better job - lol! 

After the show, we met the husbands for dinner at Trattoria Emilia, for some very authentic Italian food and then we hit White Night, this is when the city is alive with light shows and entertainment all night from 7pm to 7am - quite a sight, really!  We headed home about 10pm - no all nighters for us!

Sunday:

Started with my usual early morning walk with Marie and the Sunday Dog and then I popped over to see my Dad, do some shopping for him and catch up with DSister2 for her birthday:

.... and then, if all of this was not busy enough, TraderVic and I then went to see Deadpool in the late afternoon at our favourite cinema, The Rivoli.

My review of this film is that it is irreverent, quite violent, crude in parts but fun!

...finally, the weekend's shenanigans are over so let's skip to Tuesday:
