2018 ONLINE ADVENT CALENDAR - DECEMBER 3rd

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Merry Christmas everyone.

Here is Day Three of Serendipitous Jo's Online Advent Calendar

"'Twas the night before Christmas" by Prairie Schooler from Book #63 Christmas Samplers.

Jo always sets us a little task for our blog post; we have to answer a Christmassy question:

What is your favourite Christmas song?

That is an easy question for me to answer: The Little Drummer Boy.

Here is Pentonix (whom you have seen many times on my blog), singing it 'a capella'.

Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone,

Now, please don't forget to visit the Advent Calendar on Jo's blog each day up until the Big Day!
hugs,

P.S. Sorry that I have been absent from my blog for the past little while, there are lots of reasons:

1. We are moving house in sixteen days! (Wednesday, 19th December)
2. We have to go to Sydney for four days for a wedding the weekend before (very happy to be asked to the wedding but wish it was any other weekend but that one).
3. The utility companies (gas, electricity and telephone) are being *%$#  (you fill in the blank) about getting everything connected, so we will be moving with the possibility of no power or gas for a few days.
4. We have had four extra people in the house off and on over the past two weeks, which has meant lots of time socialising and (extra housework, too).
5.  We are using a portable modem at the moment which is going through gigs at a huge rate, so I have been trying to minimise my internet usage.
6. ... and I am still packing up stuff (how do we have so much???????)

P.P.S. To the winners of my last giveaway - I have not forgotten but see the reasons above as to why I haven't posted anything yet - lol!

A very big Happy Dance......

Oh, I am so happy, I have finally finished 'Twas the night before Christmas by Prairie Schooler from Book #63 Christmas Samplers!!!!!!

Here are all my happy, happy photos......

The fabric is actually a much prettier blue over-dyed and I did mix up the floss somewhat, just for fun!

I am just so chuffed with this finish - my first large finish for 2018!

Just before I go, I wanted to remind you about my Girl's Nest Giveaway #5, click on the pic below to sign up for the item of your choice.

Winter Olympics Rotation Relay for WIPocalypse 2018 Day One...

For the first day of the Winter Olympics Rotation Relay for WIPocalypse 2018 (a FB group, that you can find here) ....

... I rotated around three projects:

Frosty Hopes by Just Nan - this week's Friday Frolics focus piece -  (I stitched a pine cone and added some blue to the snowflakes in the right hand border)

'Twas the Night Before Christmas by Prairie Schooler (I stitched Santa's hat and his sleigh)

... and lastly I started the 2018 Temperature SAL (after spending hours playing around with colours, I managed to stitch the first five days of January).

... and right now, I am stitching some more on these pieces (and maybe a couple more) whilst watching Day 2 of the Winter Olympics - the Snowboarders today.

Are you watching, too?

This week's Stitching Rotation ...

This week I have kept a mini stitching rotation going ... I have worked on four projects:

1. I kept working on "'Twas the night before Christmas" from PS Book #63

2. I started "Warm Hands, Warm Heart", which is the January Ornament for the JCS Christmas Ornie FB SAL  - The Little Stitcher, p. 52 from JCS Christmas Ornie Magazine.

3. "Fa La La" by LHN, the January Ornament for the Christmas Ornie SAL 2018.

4. "Dancing Witches" by Needle Bling Designs for the January Ornament for the Halloween Ornie SAL 2018 - this will be a "Winged Creature" - an Owl.

However, I have moved on from the rotation today as it is Friday and time for Friday Frolics.

You can check out what I will be stitching on for FF, if you click here.

Long Easter Weekend FNSI.... and Smalls SAL post...

Our dear hostess for FNSI, Wendy B from Sugarlane Designs, decreed in her wisdom that Friday Night Sew In be postponed by a week and would last all of the Easter long weekend.  And as she decreed, it was so.

So, Friday night I finished my Stitching for Syria piece and posted it off. This is run by Concern, an aid organisation, who have asked stitchers around the world to stitch this little design to be made into a wall hanging to show the women of Syria that stitchers around the world are thinking of them and are aware of their plight.  It is also to give them inspiration for their own craft.  I found out about this via the lovely Jo, who also stitched a block.

Stitched on 28 ct Mocah Linen
Floss: Cottage Garden Threads 1004 Blue Ixia

I was very pleased with how the colourway turned out on this piece and it has been sent to the women of Syria with all of my love.

Then on Saturday and Sunday, I picked up 'Twas the night by Sue Hillis Designs, this is my Start #9 for DUCJFC2016

Before pic:

 After Pic:

I also made this delicious English trifle to take to my friend's place for dinner on Saturday night.

Sunday, I had my first go at baking Hot Cross Buns - I was pretty pleased with the result.

Easter Monday, I picked up my "America, the land that we love" sampler by Jean Farish, I have decided that Monday is 'Merica Monday, to keep on track with my stitching for my Americana SAL blog.  This is piece #10 for DUCJFC2016.

Before pic:

After pic - nearly finished the first two states: Alabama and Alaska - yay!

So, quite a bit of stitching for my extended FNSI weekend - most successful!

.... and now it is Wednesday evening, so I should tell you about my Tudor Tuesday stitching, this is my post from the Tudor Tuesday SAL blog:

Well, I thought that after spending so much time on Lizzie recently, I should pay some attention to her Dad.  So, I picked up this mini Henry Viii pattern which the wonderful Jo, from Serendipitous Stitching, sent to me last year sometime.  Thank you, dear Jo.

This was originally a kit but, of course, Jo had already stitched it so there is just the pattern with the Legend saying only colours not specific floss, so I was able to choose my own fabric and floss. I am stitching on 28ct French Country Spring green fabbie with assorted DMC threads but I have substituted a gold metallic thread for Henry's hat and chain.  I am so pleased with how quickly this has stitched up - this is only one evening of stitching:

So, if all goes according to plan - next Tudor Tuesday should see Henry all crowned, too!

This is #11 for DUCJFC2016;

.... and now, as it is Wednesday evening, here is my Smalls SAL post.
The first piece, of course, is the Stitching for Syria piece above and my other Smalls SAL piece is 'Twas the night before Christmas by Prairie Schooler, which I stitched for the Christmas Ornie SAL.  Here is the post here:

At the end of last month I was scrabbling for what to do for March - Santa and/or one or some of his helpers, when I turned to my old faithful, Prairie Schooler, and found Book #63  Christmas Samplers.

And then my eye was caught by the middle sampler, "The Night before Christmas" and then I saw Santa on his sleigh with three of his reindeers and Bingo!  There was my March choice.

I went to my stash and found some great Crafty Kitten overdyed 32 ct blue linen and two days later I was finished!  Woo Hoo!

This piece, of course, also counts for my Prairie Schooler SAL and forDUCJFC2016.

Okay I am finally done!

Off to Byron Bay tomorrow for a few days for a family friend's son's wedding - the whole family is going. DS1 and DDIL are driving down from Queensland and DS2 is flying in from Sydney, whilst TraderVic, DD and I are flying up from Melbouren - it will be the first time we will all be together for over a year - so I am pretty excited!

So, you may not hear from me for a few days as we are away for a bit of a holiday as well - how lovely!

hugs,
