Friday Night with Friends_April 2020

The night before last was Friday night which means it was time for Friday Night with Friends (FNwF) the virtual stitching night which is run by the wonderful Cheryll.

This Friday, I maintained my stitching on "Quiet Please - Cross Stitcher at Work", which is a freebie from Needleprint which you can find here.

I am getting so close to the end now that I can almost taste it - and it is yummy! lol!

Friday Night with Friends_March 2020

The night before last was Friday night which means it was time for Friday Night with Friends (FNwF)  virtual stitching night which is run by the wonderful Cheryll, here is where you can check out what everyone else got up to this month.

It is also my own personal Friday Frolics night, where I pick up a WIP or UFO every Friday.

This week I picked up Strawberry House by LHN. The last time I stitched on it was on September 8th, 2015, where I struggled to get much stitching done on it as I kept having to frog different sections and then somehow lost my Crescent Colours Ladybug floss!

So, this is how I found the piece.

Unfortunately, I still can't find my Ladybug floss - so, yesterday, all of that had to be frogged and I started again with WDW Begonia - a bit pinker but it will still work very well, I think.

Hopefully, this will be the last I will see the Frog Prince for a while now.

Also, for FNwF I stitched on The Faerie Queene Sampler - I have been stitching on it each day in March as part of the March One Stitch per day Challenge for WIPocalypse.  I am stitching one letter of the verse in dark brown, one over one.  It is quite petite, so I try to stitch on it during daylight hours.

I am also stitching on this piece every day during daylight hours for the JCS Christmas Ornie FB SAL as I am finding the black rather challenging to stitch on.

... and to finish, here is a rare photo of Milo sitting on my lap (he is usually too skittish).

February FNwF

Last Friday was FNwF (and yes, I'm a bit late as it is now the following Thursday!)

this is a virtual sew-in hosted by the lovely Cheryll from Gone Stitchin'

To combat our heat I went for a snowy scene this FNwF:

Winter in the Village by Stoney Creek
I think that the fabric is 28 count Mocha Linen
Using the called for DMC floss

I had not stitched on this since September 2018!

My latest New Start Sunday post can be found here, if you are interested in having a look.

More pretty flowers ....

I took DD, who is now home from London, to visit the Rhododendron Garden (I had only been there two weeks before but it was fascinating to see the changes in the garden in that short period of time).

We saw more pretty flowers, a beautiful rosella and a very tall tree (if you turn your sound on for this first video you will hear the bird song, too).

It truly is a magical place and a great way to get some pleasant exercise, too.

Thanks for visiting,

hugs,

Friday Night with Friends...

Ooops, just realised that last night's Friday Frolics coincided with Friday Night with Friends (FNwF) -  as it always does once a month, of course!

So, here is what I got up to stitching-wise yesterday....

A Christmas Witch update.....

I had a great stitching day, yesterday, for Friday Frolics and FNwF and managed to make great progress on The Christmas Witch.

This is where I started...

... and this is where I finished when I went to bed last night....

... and this is what she will look like once finished....

We are off to Ballarat for a couple of days to visit my Uncle and Aunt but I do plan to take this with me - so please do pop back later  to see how much more progress I make in the next two days.

You can see everyone else's FNwF projects by clicking here.

Have a great weekend everyone,

FNwF and Friday Frolics...

....  again involved a little bit of creative timing because, as seems to be the case so often and was indeed again this Friday, I was quite busy.  A very good excuse this time - I spent ALL day helping my sister move house!  So, once more I fudged a little and started my FF on Thursday and then snatched a little bit of time on Friday evening once I had settled myself in my comfy stitching chair with a heat pack for my back (sore from all that bending and lifting and unpacking boxes) and a cat to cuddle.

But first, in case you do not know what I am talking about ...

Kitten Stitching and the Friday Frolics (or FF) is a SAL blog run by me to help us work our way through some of our WIPs and UFOs, each Friday.

Friday Night with Friends or (FNwF) is a monthly SAL, run by another wonderful SAL Mama, Cheryll, from Gone Stitchin' again to help us get some of our stitching goals accomplished.

If you would like to see everyone else's stitching for the various SALs, please click on the following links:

                                                       Friday Frolics

Firstly, I worked on finishing this sweet Spring Celebrations design by The Primitive Hare.  It is a freebie which you can find here.

I found a scrap of overdyed fabbie and just managed to squeeze the design on it but I changed all of the colours to hopefully create a very sweet, very pastel, springlike feel.

Once I had finished this piece, I was too tired to go rootling around in my Girl's Nest for an old WIP, so I settled for a more recent one, one that I am finding very soothing to stitch.

Design: Do more of what makes you happy
Designer: Abbey Rose Designs
Fabric: 32ct Grey-spotted
Floss: Mixture of suggested and own choice over-dyed threads

These pics below show you where I got up to last time I posted about this piece in January - as you can see, I am close to finishing.

Anyway, enough "rabbiting" on from me for now - off to do some laundry and hopefully some sewing in my Girl's Nest.

hugs,

Kaye

Friday Frolics update ... end January and early February...

.... I have been a bit behind on updating what is happening for me on one of my other main blogs, Kitten Stitching and the Friday Frolics,  so here goes....

[Ooops, I forgot to say that this post also counts for my FNwF post - you can check out what everyone else got up to for FNwF - herehttps://stitchingcubbyhole.blogspot.com.au/2017/02/fnwf.html.]

28th January:

In true FF fashion, I faithfully went to my Girls' Nest to randomly choose a WIP/UFO.  This week my hand fell upon this gorgeous very large UFO....

"Secret Santa" by Lavender and Lace.

Now, as is usual with a lot of my WIPs/UFOs, I have no idea when I started it, but as there is absolutely no mention of it on my main blog, Kitten Stitching, and I started that blog in 2011, it must be sometime before then!

This is what it looked like before FF: (not very much at all, really!)

And this is where I was up to after Friday night.....

And this is what it will look like - one day!

3rd February:

Hmmm! Not as much progress as I would have liked yesterday, as TraderVic and I went to a Twilight concert at the Zoo to see the Hoo Doo Gurus, a band from the '80s.

It was a perfect evening for sitting listening to fun music, with good friends and a glass of prosecco in hand!

As the evening drew in, a colony of bats flew overhead - rather spooky!

(Sorry for the poor quality of the video - it is better if you enlarge it)

Anyway, here is my Friday Frolic piece....

The Village Alphabet by Cross My Heart Inc.

I last posted about this on my main blog, Kitten Stitching in June last year, when the pattern first arrived from an online needlework shop.

Cross Stitch Stashwho specialise in Vintage, Out of Print and Hard to Find charts.

So, this is where I was up to ....

... and my progress after some Friday afternoon stitching...

Any stitching is good stitching, I say, and I am planning on stitching some more on this piece over the weekend.

Have a great stitching weekend, everyone,

So, that is FF up to date - quite a flurry of posts to come (WIPocalypse, Smalls SAL TUSAL SAL, Alphabet Club - all except the last long overdue) so please do visit again, soon.

hugs,

P.S. Feel free to check out my Easter Exchange - you have one more day to join in the fun!

P.P.S. Don't forget to join in the fun of my second Girl's Nest Giveaway for 2017. Entries close on Feb 5th.  Good luck!
