IHSW Report_February 2021

This weekend was International Hermit and Stitch Weekend (IHSW) which incorporates Friday Night Sew In (FNSI). Both are virtual stitch-ins, which stichers, quilters and other crafty people take part in from all over the world - pretty neat, hey?

You can read about my rather successful (including a Happy Dance) FNSI this month here. And I would have to say that my IHSW was most successful this month with not one more not two more but THREE more Happy Dances).

First up, I teased you all last post with this pic....

Which became this.... The Stitching Bee by LHN

The Stitching Bee, was a kit (except the backing fabric and the button, 'cos I couldn't find the button that came with the kit but once I had FFOed it, there was the button after all but "Too Late", she cried!) which came as part of my A Little help from my friends subscription from The Silver Needle

Then, I was so inspired by how well the finishing turned out on The Stitching Bee, that I FFOed these two sweet designs.

On the right, "A Spot of Spring" by The Drawn Thread, which I finished stitching in May, 2017!  On the left is an unknown design (I do try to always label my designs when I post but sometimes I obviously don't! lol!)  but it is still a sweet finish!

All of the fabrics, finishings and trims have come from my stash - phew! Gotta use it up sometime!

I also found some time to put a few stitches into this design from Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornament Issue 2007. It is Julia Lucas Designs - Deck the Halls.

And some more stitches on the big bear on the first of the two baby quilts I am stitching.

So, that is it, my wrap up for February IHSW.

You can check out what others have done for IHSW by visiting the IHSW FB page.

But before I go, I did want to remind you to check out my 1000th Post Giveaway

which I would love for you to enter.

Stay safe and well, my dear friends.

Thanks for visiting and please don't forget to leave a comment as I do love a good chat,

hugs,

Smalls SAL_May 2017 plus May TUSAL, too....

Well, here I am again, playing catch up with the Smalls SAL but what the hey? At least I am remembering to post, eventually!

So, what Smalls can I show off to you, I have a few a lot this month, I think... Let me go rummage in my Girl's Nest and see what I can find....

Let's start with April and May from one of the SALs that I am doing this year - Rainbow Gallery's 2004 Cross Stitch Surprise series (January to December).

Oooops!  Forgot to add the kitty cat!

Next is another freebie, The Drawn Thread's "First Snow".  I substituted white beads instead of Smyrna crosses for the snowflakes - I am very happy with the effect.

I have also finished "A Spot of Spring" (another The Drawn Thread design) for my "Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS CALL" SAL, which I am doing with dear Jo.

Lots of beading on this one, too, I even found a beaded pale pink button to use as the flower!

Next up is my version of "You are so loved", gorgeous freebie from The Snowflower Diaries,  which I changed to "You are so blessed" and stitched for my Memento Box.  You can read more about this in my this post.

.... and some more pieces for the windows of my Memento Box....

This little house is from this sampler:

... and the sweet little fox is from this Sampler book

I also stitched a version of this freebie from The Primitive Hare ....

Phew! That is a lot of Smalls this month! I think that I am quite impressed with myself, really!

Please click here to see lots of other great Smalls from other stitchers.

... and to finish off, here is May's TUSAL report - the pile of ORTS is growing!

You can check out everyone else's TUSAL report by checking out this post on DaffyCat's blog and scrolling down to the comments section.

hugs,

February, January and last December Smalls SAL post_2017...

#1 - Finished in December, 2016

This is a very sweet Freebie design from Designs by Gloria and Pat on the Candy Cane Stitchers Group on FB, just scroll down to October 18 (although you do need to be a member of the group, I think, to see all of the pics.

I stitched it on 28 ct Ivory linen, using my own choice of floss.

#2  January - Frosty Friend

I am happy to say that I have finished January from Rainbow Gallery's 2004 Stitcher's Surprise Series.

I used an unknown Blue fabbie and mixed up all of the floss choices, plus I added a silver snowflake charm, courtesy of my dear friend, Sue.  I may still, if I can find suitable ones, add small black buttons for his eyes.

#3  February - Is Winter Done?

I am also happy to say that I have finished February from Rainbow Gallery's 2004 Stitcher's Surprise Series

... and I am very happy to say it is a FFO as well.  I used on old frame I found when cleaning out my parent's house (I now have a box full of them) and I intend to rotate each month through it once I have them all stitched.  There was supposed to be a ground hog in the top left corner but he just looked like a blob to me, so I left him out and replaced him with the lace border and added the heart bell.  I am really happy with how February turned out.  Stitched on 28ct overdyed linen with my own choice of floss.

#4 A Spot of Winter

This is my "Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS CALL" SAL, which I am doing with dear Jo.

The design is part of a series by The Drawn Thread.  Stitched on 28 ct blue Lugana with my own choice of threads and the beads are also a design choice that I made - again, pretty pleased with how this turned out.  Now, onto Spring!

#5, #6 and #7

Days 1, 2  and 5 of The Twelve Days of Christmas by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery (stitched for the January and February themes on the Christmas Ornie SAL blog).

Where the piece is up to altogether, and as you can see I have finished Day 5 as well.

and lastly, #8

The Moon from Halloween Happiness by Imaginating (January's theme for the Hallowe'en Ornie SAL blog

(Unfortunately, I am a bit behind on February's Witch theme).

Anyway, that is all my Smalls for now,

Please click here to see lots of other great Smalls from other stitchers.

hugs,
