Smalls SAL_February 2020

The Smalls SAL is hosted by Mary's Thread. 

On the last Friday of each month we post about the Small designs that we have stitched in that month.

Let's See, what Smalls have I finished since the end of Jan?

First up is a freebie from Anne Les Petites Croix: Bonne Annee (Happy New Year) which I changed to Mon Amour (My love) for the Secret Stitching Sweetheart Blog run by the wonderful Jo of Serendipitous Stitching.

  

I stitched it on a scrap of unknown green linen which I had in my stash and chose my own pinks and greens and added white beads instead of white crosses.

... and I even managed to FFO it! 

The fabric in the border is what I used to back it with, too.

My second fnish is Christmas Bullfinch by Punochka, which is the February Ornament for the JCS Stitch Along on FB.

My third Small is PS Santa 2005 - I love the fact that he is holding a quilt and sewing equipment - this is for my PS Santa SAL with my dear friend, Marie (no blog).

Lastly, here is the third of my "Snowman's Quaker Christmas".

It is a sweet design that I found through Carol from Stitching Dreams.  It is a freebie from Midnight Stitching that you can find here.

And, just as a reminder, here are the two earlier colourways of this design that I stitched.  Which of the three is your favourite?

The second is in icy blues using a gorgeous Threadworx floss, using Carol's finish as inspiration.

So, all up, I have four Smalls Finishes for February - not too shabby (although not as good as last month's Smalls post with six!).

P.S. Sorry that I have been absent from my blog for the past little while, there are lots of reasons:

1. We are moving house in sixteen days! (Wednesday, 19th December)

2. We have to go to Sydney for four days for a wedding the weekend before (very happy to be asked to the wedding but wish it was any other weekend but that one).

3. The utility companies (gas, electricity and telephone) are being *%$#  (you fill in the blank) about getting everything connected, so we will be moving with the possibility of no power or gas for a few days.

4. We have had four extra people in the house off and on over the past two weeks, which has meant lots of time socialising and (extra housework, too).

5.  We are using a portable modem at the moment which is going through gigs at a huge rate, so I have been trying to minimise my internet usage.

6. ... and I am still packing up stuff (how do we have so much???????)

P.P.S. To the winners of my last giveaway - I have not forgotten but see the reasons above as to why I haven't posted anything yet - lol!

Smalls SAL_October Update

Time for my October Smalls SAL update...

My first two finishes are FFOs!   On the left is a Santa Ornie that I finished ages ago and on the right Christmas Trees from Nordic Holiday, Prairie Schooler Book #191. Not the best finally finishing, if you look closely at the one on the left, I had a bit of a mishap with glue and a brown paper bag.

Then I had two "More Bah Humbug" by Sue Hillis Design finishes:

Finally, let me show you some stitching......

Oh dear, I am so very busy lately that I seem to post about everything bar the stitching!

So, let me show you the two projects that I worked on this week....

The Ice Skaters, I am loving working on this design so very much.  Unfortunately, the Frog Prince did visit last night so I actually was much further ahead at one point - lol!

One day, in the not too distant future, I hope, it will look like this....

although I am probably not going to stitch the heart border, I don't think.

I must thank my dear stitchy friend, Brigitte, for inspiring me to find this design on Ebay  - I do love it so very much.

... and then, my current travel piece... January, a Prairie Schooler Design from Book #177

The Frog Prince extended his visit to this piece, too, unfortunately - oh well, maybe he will leave me along soon?  Anybody looking for an unwanted, uninvited guest?????

A very big Happy Dance......

Oh, I am so happy, I have finally finished 'Twas the night before Christmas by Prairie Schooler from Book #63 Christmas Samplers!!!!!!

Here are all my happy, happy photos......

The fabric is actually a much prettier blue over-dyed and I did mix up the floss somewhat, just for fun!

I am just so chuffed with this finish - my first large finish for 2018!

Winter Olympics Rotation Relay for WIPocalypse 2018 Day One...

For the first day of the Winter Olympics Rotation Relay for WIPocalypse 2018 (a FB group, that you can find here) ....

... I rotated around three projects:

Frosty Hopes by Just Nan - this week's Friday Frolics focus piece -  (I stitched a pine cone and added some blue to the snowflakes in the right hand border) 

'Twas the Night Before Christmas by Prairie Schooler (I stitched Santa's hat and his sleigh)

... and lastly I started the 2018 Temperature SAL (after spending hours playing around with colours, I managed to stitch the first five days of January).

... and right now, I am stitching some more on these pieces (and maybe a couple more) whilst watching Day 2 of the Winter Olympics - the Snowboarders today.

Smalls SAL_November Update

Hi all, I have quite a few Smalls goodies to show you this month.  

Quite a few of them are Prairie Schooler designs, one of my very favourite designers.  I find that they are perfect designs for travelling.  Just enough colour changes to keep it interesting but not too many to make it difficult whilst stitching in a car or on a plane and no half or quarter stitches and very little backstitching but oh, such wonderful designs. I love them!

#1 November Small:

This gorgeous PS Christmas Tree   Now, Prairie Schooler designs do not usually use beads but I could not resist blinging up this design from Book #150, "December".

... and here it is all finished up and gifted to my dear friend, Lisa.

Actually, she moved it from the spot above and it now lives with Santa in her dining room (much better pic, anyway)...

#2 November Small:

Trick or Treat What's to Eat?' from Prairie Schooler Book #188 Trick or Treat.

This was an absolute dream to stitch, I started it on a Friday and finished it just before midnight the next Saturday night.  So, a very quick stitch for me.

#3 November Small:

Prairie Schooler Skeleton!

See his right shoulder (on the left)?  Well, it should be sitting at the same level as the other shoulder but I didn't notice the discrepancy until after I had stitched all of his arm and the two keys.  At first I thought to myself, 'oh no! All that frogging!' But then the more I looked at it, the more I quite liked my unintentional change to the design and I have decided that the poor skeleton has a dislocated shoulder - poor lamb!

#5  November Small:  (this one is actually an October Small that didn't quite make it into last month's post)

This is my version of Bad Fairies for the September theme for the Hallowe'en Ornie SAL  

I adapted the design from a French design book, which seems to have fallen through a black hole on my book shelf - not sure where it has got to, very strange! - so I can't even tell you what it is called! 

[Update: Still haven't found the book but I have found its title: it is a French book of design motifs

#6  November Small:

This is my very latest Christmas Ornament finish and it is, of course, for a relatively brand new baby (he is three months old now).  I am delighted with it.  I love the colours and the changes that I made.  I added his name and the year.  It is from the JCS 2016 Christmas Ornie Magazine.

Look carefully, at the last pic, can you see the mistake I made, again?  Another one that I intend to keep, as it sort of fits in with the theme of the piece.
