Lunch in Trentham...

On Sunday, as part of our weekend away, Trader Vic and I and my uncle and aunt went to the charming little town of Trentham for lunch at The Cosmopolitan Hotel.

...now, the food was delicious!  My lamb shoulder melted in your mouth it was so tender and I am going to try to recreate the couscous salad one day.  BUT, the service was atrocious.  Despite having booked we were put in the far corner (after first being ignored when we walked into the restaurant) and then it took them 20 mins to bring us menus and 45 minutes before they came back to take our orders and then ages before our drinks arrived and then about an 1 hour and 40 mins before our meals came!  Not good, really and the reason I would hesitate to recommend going there for Sunday lunch.

As I said, the little town of Trentham is charming....

This sweet old fellow gave me a fright when I nearly walked into him - I thought he was a real person for a minute or two!

There are some gorgeous shops, this one had a double fireplace.

Love the detail on the lamp shade and the windows.

The original kitchen is now part of the shop.

... and I suppose this is true - the Queen has probably never known the joys of cooking/baking.  Rather sad, really.

This tea set tempted me, but no, no, no! I was strong!

Sweet cherubs on this marble seat....

... and there was this one shop which sold a Noah's Ark of animals....

This sign made me smile....

... and I spied this courtyard down a lane to the Redbeard Bakery. (which I have just discovered is For Sale, any takers? lol!)

So, that was our afternoon in Trentham, I can recommend a visit but maybe try one of the other cafes/restaurants if you are looking for lunch.

hugs,
