"The Dixie Swim Club" and Audible...

Last night TraderVic went out with our Theatre Group to the Heidelberg Theatre Company to see "The Dixie Swim Club".

But first we had our usual yummy dinner at Byzantine, just down the road.  The food is always delicious and the staff know us very well by now.  So much so, that one time last year I got a bit confused and I booked the restaurant for the wrong Friday.  They actually rang me up and said that I needed to change the booking as I must mean the following Friday as the play was not showing the week I had booked for!  How is that for service?

Last night I had stuffed quail - so good!

Now, back to the play.  "The Dixie Swim Club" is about "Five Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team, set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, kids and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina's Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other's lives. "

The sets at the HTC are always excellent and the acting is almost always of a very high standard.  We thoroughly enjoyed this play.

Actually the staff (all volunteers) at the HTC are excellent, too.  We have been going for years and years with our Theatre Group.  One year I kept forgetting to buy our season tickets -  so in early Feb - just before the season was about to start - the ticket secretary rings me up to see if we still wanted to go that particular year!  She had saved our seats for us!  Now, that, too, is service!

The other thing I wanted to tell you about is Audible.  This is an Amazon app for listening to books on your iphone or ipad or other device.  I have just joined up (you get the first month free with a free book!)

So, I thought I would give it a go as it means I can listen to an audio book whilst I train stitch on the way to work - how cool will that be?

This is the novel I chose - it had really good reviews.

"Based on a Russian fairy tale, The Snow Child is a tale of the shoring up of defences, psychological and literal, against the cold and dark. Set in the 1920s, the novel follows the move of middle-aged Jack and Mabel from 'back east' America to a remote homestead in Alpine, Alaska. Heavy with the loss of their firstborn and only child many years earlier, they seek to change the pattern of their lives in a context of icy ravines and wild silence."

Sounds good, doesn't it?  I will let you know how I go with the whole Audible experience.  It should be really good.  Does anyone else use Audible?

Anyway, it is very early here and the house is quiet so I am going to eat my breakfast and do some more blog reading and some stitching.

Have a great weekend, all of my lovely friends.

hugs,
