FNSI Report_March 2021

Oh my goodness, I cannot believe that another month has gone by and here we are heading towards the end of March!  But, at least that means it is time again for Friday Night Sew In (FNSI), which segues, of course, into International Hermit & Stitch Weekend but more of that in a later post.  Both of these SALs are virtual stitch-ins with stitchers taking part from all around the world to "stitch together" for Friday night and then over the weekend for IHSW.

This FNSI, I stitched on "Merry House" from "Christmas House Trio" by Waxing Moon Designs.

I also stitched on a secret Easter project but here is a sneak peek!

Click on the FNSI logo below, if you would like to see what everyone else got up to last evening.

A lovely break...

... oh, isn't it lovely to have four days off work?  Absolutely, I say.

The long weekend's joys started early for us with DS2 flying down from Sydney on Wednesday night for the Easter break - oh bliss!  My baby was home with us for five whole days.  We spent lots of time catching up and he spent lots of time watching footy with TraderVic as he does not have Foxtel in his Sydney flat and NSW is not really an AFL state like Victoria is (DS1 is finding the same thing in Queensland).

So, Easter was filled with catching up with family and friends, lots of long walks, reading, blogging and lots of stitching.  Although, on the last I was a little hampered as DS2 slept in my sewing room which made it hard to get in there to find things.

We had our family Easter get together early (as it was the only time we could all get together) - so on Good Friday we had a meatless feast!

My sister and I did all the cooking and the young ones did all the eating!  My dear Dad was in good form after his eye treatment a week or so back, so we had a lovely time!

Anyway, the train to work beckons.

I hope that your Easter was filled with joy, too.

hugs,

Update:  A few people have asked for recipes.  I cannot give all of them as my sister did some of the cooking, too. But here we go:

I made the salmon patties - which is just a basic recipe:

the layered garden salad:

and the apple and raspberry crumble (I modified this recipe):

My sister made the rest.  I know that this is the recipe for the potato latkes:

but I am not sure about the spanikopita or the prawn dumplings.

cheers, Kaye

A Happy Easter....

Well, despite a few "Downs" this past Easter weekend:

  • Dear BIL being taken to hospital with pneumonia on Thursday but luckily he responded quickly to strong antibiotics and was sent home on Good Friday
  • The garage door (which opens from the lane to our backyard where we park our four cars (!) - now both DD and DS2 drive we have a carpark! lol!) broke down on Good Friday - no way to get it fixed for two weeks!
  • Rushing DD to the 24 hour clinic to get a tetanus shot on Easter Sunday morning after she cut her foot badly at her work late on Saturday night on a rusty metal container
We managed to have some great "Ups" over the long weekend;
  • Visited the Mornington Farmer's Market on Saturday (see last post)
  • Caught up with 6 or 7 episodes of "Downton Abbey" - such a treat!
  • My Dear Uncle came to stay for a few days, here is on the right (TraderVic on the left) enjoying a nice glass of red wine

  • Caught up with friends and family
  • Lots of baking

Chocolate Fudge Cake

Peanut Crinkles

DS1 made a delicious Key Lime Pie

  • Plus I made some delicious Lentil Soup and Tuna patties on Good Friday and a hearty Lamb and Vegetable Soup on Easter Monday (no pics, sorry)
  • Plus, of course, lots of stitching:
    • Some progress on The Faerie Queene:

This section in brown (below) is done over one (not my favourite stitching to do):

  • ..and lots of progress on Autumn in New York:

So, in all a Happy Easter,

I would love to hear all about yours, so please let me know.

Belated Easter post

Welcome to all my new followers, it is lovely to have you visit and I hope that we become great blogging mates.  Enjoy!

Well, we came home from America on Easter Saturday morning after having missed DS1's 24th birthday entirely by having crossed back over the international date line.  So, on Easter Sunday evening, despite our jet lag, TraderVic and I put on a birthday dinner for DS1 and for our dear friends, the Friends (yes, that is their surname, they are not Quakers).  Here are some pics of what I baked for my son:

Artichoke and spinach dip - which I think I may have used too much ricotta cheese in it - it should have been less thick, but it was still yummy.

Easter layer cake:
Some Easter daisies which my DF gave me, they come from her garden, lovely, aren't they?  They are really long lasting as they still look really nice in the vase all of these days later.

Well, off to work now, have a good day everyone.

Hugs, Kaye

(Who really wishes that she could stay home and stitch on Cinderella instead!)
