Vinegar Valentines!

lol! I had never heard of such a thing, but apparently, once upon a time, in the Victorian era,  they were very popular!

They were sent anonymously to the lover that you DID NOT want to encourage!

You can follow this link to read the full article.

Wouldn't it be awful to receive one of these tomorrow, instead of a loving Valentine?

hugs,

Oh wow. Yes, I never saw such Valentines. Rather harsh!

Harsh but at least the suitors knew where they stood!

Oh my gosh - learn something new every day. Never heard of such a thing - but what courage to send one and how deflating to receive one - HA!

Yikes.. that seems so terrible, although they were quite good at "cutting" back then.

Never heard of these - interesting. Must have been awful to receive one, but they're also kind of funny.

What an interesting article! The troll is not a modern invention.
I do like the one to discourage an unwanted suitor. I inherited a wonderful book from my Grandad with templates for letters for such occasions.

These are a bit harsh. I certainly would have been crushed if I received one. But I can think of someone I may have sent one to. Isn't that a terrible thought?
