Too ambitious an idea?

I saw something on Facebook, an absolutely wonderful stitchery that someone had completed of LHN designs and I just cannot get the idea out of my head. I think that I am going to have to attempt it myself.  It will be a humungous work to undertake but oh so worth it if it works out.

Do you want to see?  This is the completed work of Pascale Bruchet which I saw on FB - I do so hope that she doesn't mind me showing it to you - you can also see it Shared on my FB timeline. (Please click on it to enlarge it)

It is lots of LHN designs of various shapes and sizes all stitched onto one large piece!

I just cannot stop thinking about this - of course, if I do it, mine would not be exactly the same as I would start with the LHN designs I already have and see how it all works out.

What do you all think?  Some words of wisdom would be really appreciated! Is it just madness to even think about starting this!!!!!!!

hugs,

Of course it's not madness Kaye! Is that all cross stitch... Either way it's beautiful. I have a quilt that took 20 years to finish...it's oN my side bar down a bit. I's do it, and you can do it block by block! How exciting...You GO Girl!

It isnt madness but I think you should have some idea of what you want to do with it when it is finished. If you have, then go for it. Just a block at a time...it is very doable!

Wow. Do you start with one and keep adding or plan the layout in advance? I think this is a great idea and she did a beautiful job.

If it is madness it's done in a stunning form!

An amazing project! I know if you decided to tackle something like this, it would be even more stunning : ) Incidentally, I just noticed yesterday your post on your sidebar regarding you & cucki doing And They Sinned as an SAL! How have I missed that??? Talk about ambitious!

Wow. What a beautiful project. How big would it be? Looks way to big for me to tackle. That could be your retirement project. Don't forget you have all those cut thrus to SAL with me.

that would be the equivalent of making an heirloom quilt, to be passed down from generation to generation.

Hi Kaye - this is beautiful work, no wonder you are inspired!

I am sure something like this would take a fair bit of planning and a heap of dedication, but I am sure you are a competent enough to work it all out and achieve the 'heirloom' of which Gill speaks.
Don't forget you have a Blogland Cheer Squad!

Wow - epic stitching!
It would be an ambitious project, but it would also be unique and special and something that could be shown to future generations of your family ^^
Good luck and happy stitching if you decide to go ahead!

It's not madness, it's just a great idea. It's not more madness than stitching all of the Haw Run Hollow series or And They Sinned or one of the Neighbourhood projects, lol. I'd go for it!

It's beautiful and I don't think you are mad at all. I stitched the monthly cottages as one large piece and also the 4 seasonal band samplers as one piece. As long as you don't think to do it over 1 I think it's a great idea

I've seen that picture on the LHN website. It looks like so much fun! Maybe choose charts that mean something to you, so it makes it more personal and then more lovely when it's done. :D

I think if it's been on your mind that much then you should go for it!
I am curious too...would you start stitching and just add to it or are you planning on laying it all out before you start?
Can't wait to see what you decide!

Utter madness but in a good way!! If you break it down and stitch one piece every three months it would be a nice long term project.

What an amazing project to undertake! I don't think I would be able to do it... But I admire people who do tackle these extra large projects :)
