What do you do ..... ??????

.... when you have just been made redundant after a very stressful week of waiting for the axe to fall?

This is what you do ....

1. Have a Monkey Shoulder Whiskey at 10 am with your close work colleagues.....

Then, you go for a long walk along Collins Street as you head home early .....

Then, you "drown your sorrows" all afternoon with some Baileys on ice, some chocolate, a cuddle with Furio, some Netflix (watched the full series of six episodes of "Between") and some stitching for Friday Frolics and FNwF ....

"Ho, ho, ho" by Pineberry Lane

Then later that evening, you play Scrabble with TraderVic and DD and eat yummy cakes which DD and DS2 gifted you with to make you feel better .....

.... then off to bed for yet another sleepless night but you know what,

... the next morning you get up, pick yourself up and get on with the rest of your life!

hugs,

P.S.  I see this as a chance for another exciting new chapter in my life - maybe some consultancy, some writing, another publishing job, back to some teaching or maybe even just retirement - who knows?

All the best. Such news is a shock isn't it? I was in that exact place 8 years ago. Hope everything works out for you.

Oh I'm so sorry Kaye. It's their loss not yours. Now you take some time and do something different. Teaching sounds like fun.

And yes....it *is* a new chapter :) After 15 years with the same company I had really felt like the rug was ripped out from under me when it happened...but you know what.....3 months later I was in a new job....better hours and loving it! Try to enjoy the breather while you decide where to next :)

P.S. Just have to say.....when I saw the blog title in my reading panel I immediately had "what do you do"going through my head to the tune of Justin Bieber's "What do you mean":D :D

Sorry to hear your news, that sounds like a very stressful week to go through. However as others have said you have the right attitude to it and I'm sure you will turn the situation to your advantage.
I like the style in which you "dealt" with the news!

You certainly do have style! I think your friends are right; you were too good for them and it's their loss!
I am sure your next job will be amazing.
If not, there's always that bookseller position near me...

Kaye: I am so sorry, I am sure you will come out on top, you seem like a very sensible and loving person, I am sure the perfect spot will be found for you.
I know it is 5:00 somewhere so why not a little nip in the A.M.
I am a Bailey's nut, I am also into Horchata yummy.
Love your HO Ho Ho Pineberry, on polka dot fabric he is adorable.
I will pray things come out your way.

I am sorry for your becoming redundant! So it happens in countries with no financial crisis too! I don't know your age but if you feel like retiring I must tell you that my husband loves his retirement and enjoys doing the things he loves. If you prefer looking for a job or doing something else that's your choice!I wish you all the best of luck in anything you decide and I am sure you will find a solution because you are one special lady! And on the other (silly) hand see it as a chance to read and stitch more!I am wondering how many SALs you will start!Hugs and kisses!AriadnefromGreece!

I'm so sorry to hear about the redundancy. Horrible but as my friends say to me and vice versa: time to pull the big girl panties up! I'm sure this is just another case of you get one door closed and a million others open up for you xx

Kaye, I'm sorry to hear your news, but I love the way you dealt with your day. Silly company, doesn't realize what they've lost. Take a bit of a breather, then jump into the next adventure with both feet. You've got this!

Urgh, I'm so sorry to hear that! I think you dealt with it really well. Can't wait to see what you do next! :D

So sorry to hear, but what a great way to say life goes on! Your company obviously lost a good one, but you've got your FNWF!

I'm late in reading this so first of all. Sorry it had to happen to you. Next - take time to decide what is right for you. Consider, if feasible, doing volunteer work. It can be rewarding without the hassles (usually). I love the what you did on the day of. Better than what I did (went home and cried). Hang in there.

Oh dear! This has to happen once in your working life I guess. I went through that 6 years ago and walk straight into a new job & am still enjoying my different role :) Stay positive, keep your head up & start looking! I'm sure something good will happen.

Oh dear, this must be so stressful. I still remember when my FIL came home early looking stunned. He'd been given early retirement, no choice in the matter. I hope things work out for you. Definitely look at it as a new start. Look on the sunny side! You did a good job making the best of a stressful day.
