TUSAL update (late) and a garden for my DFIL...

Finally, I feel like posting again, it is has been a very rough couple of weeks with some very high and some very low emotions.

I have been doing a little stitching, some starts for DSDUSJFC and even a finish or two and I need to post for Gifted Gorgeousness, Halloween  and my Smalls SALs but those updates will have to wait another day or two, I feel.

I have taken a picture of my ORTs (just to prove I have been stitching) and I wanted to show you the work I did on the small garden near my front porch in honour of my DFIL.  Now, this is quite a big deal for me, because whilst I love a garden and beautiful flowers I am just not a gardener. I have the opposite of a green thumb - a black one! I am good at killing plants, unfortunately!

This month's TUSAL the first of 2015....  Unfortunately, I cannot show 2014's full coffeepot full of ORTs, as when we were getting my DMIL's china coffee pot ready for the funeral yesterday, TraderVic washed them all down the sink!  My fault for using her coffee pot as a TUSAL jar last year! lol!

Now for my new garden.
Pretty new front door mat:

I bought that lovely green pot just to put this rose in which was gifted to us. I also bought the tin chicken in honour of my DFIL. He used to keep chickens for many years before he moved in with us.

He loved these sorts of plants.

... and isn't this a gorgeous fuschia?

Anyway, that is all from me today, I will try to post some stitching progress pics, next time.

hugs,

The garden is lovely Kaye. I'm sure he's smiling down looking at it. Bad, bad Trader Vic for throwing your orts away and especially down the sink. He's lucky that he didn't plug up the sink. lol

I'm so sorry for your loss, and your garden is a lovely tribute. The chicken is especially cute, and a wonderful touch to remember him by. It is so happy looking--I'm sure it will bring you a smile when you see it!
I had to laugh about your orts--that sounds like something that would happen to me!
Prayers and good wishes to you....

What a lovely tribute to your DFIL. The chicken is a perfect touch too. I hope you can think of happy memories of him soon -- he would want that. Lots of hugs.

I'm sorry to hear you've been experiencing some ups and downs in life and I hope things are balancing out for you now. I know my stitching is my therapy and I hope yours is for you too!

You have a nice little collection of orts for this month.

Love the garden! I know you will give it your very best try to keep it going in memory of your DFIL. The fuschia is awesome! And I really like the colorful rooster! Stitching is therapeutic, so I hope you can find some time to sit with your projects. Hugs!

Beautiful garden! I'm sure your green thumb will make an appearance for these lovely plants.

The garden is lovely, so many beautiful plants and pots too. I love fuchsias too.
ORTS disaster! How can you explain why you needed a photo of a year's worth of snipped threads?

Your plants and flowers look lovely. I so adore that sweet little chicken, such a sweet idea, now every time you see it, you will think of him. ((hugs)) to you and blessings always,

Such a lovely and thoughtful idea to create a little garden in the memory of your FIL, with all the flowers that he once loved and with this sweet little tin chicken. He would be more than pleased with it.

Don't you worry about posting your progress on time for various SAL's, no one will mind if you miss a month or are late, some things are more important.

I love the garden for your FIL, it's a great way to remember him. Look after yourself, thinking of you xx

Beautiful flowers, Kaye! I too have a black thumb. I keep trying and trying to grow flowers - I even had a little lemon tree at one point, and some succulents - and they all die eventually. I've stopped out of mercy to the plant world. I think it's lovely that you've remembered your DFIL in so many small ways!

I don't mean to laugh about the unfortunate end to your ORT's... but didn't Trader Vic think it was a bit strange seeing all the little threads in the sink?? :o) :o)
I love your new memorial garden... it is a lovely idea :o)
Hugs xx
