Oh Happy Dance!

As I predicted in my last post, I finished Silent Night last evening.  I am very pleased with how it has turned out - I love its subdued colourway.

But I would love to ask all of you for some advice. I am planning to finish it with possibly a white pom pom trim (like my red pom pom trim on Joyeux Noel) but I would love your opinion on which backing fabric to use: Option 1 (pale blue and silver) or Option 2 (mid blue with yellow stars)?

Option 1....

Option 2....

... and here are both options together....

I think I know which one I will go with but I would still love to hear your opinion.

hugs,

This is just lovely, I like the subdued fabric in number 1 the most, it is more calming and in keeping with the piece. x

Number one!! Love this piece!

No #1 mot definitely. It fits the snowy, wintery feel of the piece.

PS thanks for the explanation of the metal peacock.

Congratulations on the Happy Dance.

I prefer the blue fabric but think the paler one suits this design better. So now you must finish something to use the blue fabric too!

I definitely love the soft fabric on the left. It's a beautiful fabric and more in tune with the church stitch. Love it! RJ@stitchingfriendsforever

Oh, what a pretty finish, Kaye! I love the soft colors in it and think the finish is calling out for the fabric in option 1 :)

Wow, it looks so lovely!
I love the blue, but I think the white would probably look better. I wonder if you could add the blue somehow?

Wow, a really great motive.
I would choose variant 1.

Beautiful finish. I would go with No. 1 too. Looking forward to seeing the final result.

I like the blue fabric. It reinforces the subdued tones of the piece, and keeps focus on the piece itself. Whereas I think the white fabric tends to blend everything together more, washing it out a bit.
But, that's just me, I love brighter colors!

I agree with most of the comments, number 1. But, go with the one that speaks to YOU!It is a beautiful design and will be wonderful either way!

Yeah, it's finished, and it looks gorgeous, Kaye. As for the backing fabric I have to say that it would be difficult for me, too. In such a case I usually take a spontaneous decision, lol.

Congratulations, Kaye. Your embroidery is beautiful and perfect for Christmas. I would choose fabric no 1. Hugs, my friend.

A lovely finish Kaye - I prefer the darker fabric but I see I am outvoted! I am sure it will be beautiful whichever way you go. xx

A beautiful finish! I adore option #2's fabric but I think #1 fits the feel of the piece more. #2 looks like it would better suit Ice Skaters!

Such a lovely finish. I love the contrast of the blue fabric personally, though I see I am in the minority

What a wonderful finish! I like the blue fabric, but I think the first fabric works better with the piece x
